Oh My , We Will Soon Be Nose Bleeding !

Relative to our mall manager’s reassignment to their home office in Manila soon , the replacements were introduced after our Management committee meeting last Tuesday morning . Yes, they are a tandem . The lady was a Russian while the man was a Portuguese . And they are so young , just 25 year olds . Gosh , they are both so good looking . I was told by my boss that they are sweethearts . They also seem amiable , because they speak enthusiastically and always have a big smile on their faces . But they can’t speak our language , Tagalog . They can only speak their native tongue and English . We are all joking in the office that when they finally work with us , we will always have nose bleed ( a term for finding difficulty in speaking fluent English ) . Let’s see , if I will have nose bleed .

@sunrisefan Not exactly . Maybe like when an employee is getting irritated with them getting demanding , they can grumble something like "nakakainis itong bababeng ito " (this girl is irritating )

"Nose bleed" reminds of what my daughter said about the difficulty in conversing in English with her foreign boss. That was ages ago. Now other people get "nose bleed" when they converse with her in English.

@SIMPLYD _I'm just glad it's American English and not British or Australian. Then I'll be having "nose bleed"when I converse with her.

That's a common joke of Filipinos if they are speaking to foreigners , since English is just a second language to us and we learn it in school.

@SIMPLYD It is a long story my friend. I text in short cut but she texts in the normal and long words. I hear her speak in straight English, and I don't completely. It is her profession that makes her a good speaker in English.

@SIMPLYD most Filipinos have this misconception that all white people are better at speaking English than us. They're not Americans nor are they British...so your officemates need not worry about a thing or be conscious of how to speak with them. Remember, we are in our native land. In no time, they'll be learning our own language so they won't be out of place. When I was in Bangkok, all foreigners who went there had to learn to speak Thai. I think it's about time we do the same to those foreigners in our country.

@toniganzon That's exactly what i told them . They too have English as their second language so it doesn't mean that they can speak it so fluently also . Really , foreigners should learn how to speak Thai when they go there . Oh , that will be difficult for me.

when they're going to start to work, you have to talk taglish so that they will make an effort to study also our language and that's the time they also nose bleed, right?

@ida123 Actually , they really have to know Tagalog because all of us here speaks it and will be speaking it when by ourselves only . So for them to know what we are talking about when by ourselves , they should really try to learn speaking and understanding it .

This is since last year when the owner of the affiliates hired a management group to manage his companies. And that company is run by foreigners thus the employees are also foreigners . Yes, i always clarify if ever i don't understand what they are saying . It's better to be clear on everything .

Just speak with your heart, sometimes it comes out naturally. I remember one time my cousin from boston came here to visit, i had trouble speaking at him directly i tend to startle. please don't take behind their back, they expect you to be good at them.
