It was there for eight years

Mom and her friend was cleaning the room this afternoon and it was nice because it was also my room with her some of stuff. But before they completely threw everything out, I took interest in one of the card envelops because I could my paper bill in there when ever I go out and pay it. But when I opened the envelop w/ a card on it, I was shocked when I saw a 50$ inside. I tried to jokingly run away with it as my mom's friend couldn't stop laughing. We weren't sure if it's good to have it change to our currency since it's been eight years. But so far it worked, some how mom's financial troubles were temporarily solved. Unfortunately, It wasn't our money. It was a card that mom was supposed to pass over to the relatives of their classmate who died eight years ago. She couldn't find them, so she kept the card and probably forgot about it. I asked wouldn't their ghost haunt us for using this money? And they said it's been eight years, there's no way they're going to look for it.
