This Time Last Week

Ah, last week we had a very lucky day. Our flight to Chicago was only two hours from JFK Airport. I had a free cocktail on our flight, and received free Wifi in our lovely corner room. Our hotel was in the Gold Coast or Magic Mile, with a Louis Vuitton on the corner and Lake Michigan on the other.
After unpacking, my hubby and I headed out to explore the area. He knew it well from his visit last year. We headed to my favorite department store, SAKS Fifth Avenue, where I bought 4 beautiful dresses and makeup, and had it shipped home.
By then, it was time for dinner and we walked with our mini umbrellas in hand to Lou Maldinati's (sp.?) for real deep dish Chicago pizza. We got to experience real Chicago weather. It got windy. Then it poured. Then it rained sideways, turning our umbrellas inside out and soaked us. My hubby dragged us into a parking garage where we waited for the rain to slacken. Finally had a great dinner, after laughing at our experience. We walked back to the hotel while the sun was shining.

There is nothing quite like the wind in Chicago especially walking on Michigan Avenue.

@DianneN We were there in October and it was windy every day!! We stayed at a B&B right off Michigan and walked up to grab a cab every day. Yah the murders are a bit of a turn off!! lol

It was only windy the Friday we arrived. There was no wind, just gentle breezes, until we left on Tuesday. They said Chicago had the best weather anywhere in the US. We were on Michigan Ave. multiple times a day, since our hotel was on a side street to it. Fun town, great food, and super shopping. What could be bad except for the 17 murders they had? Lol!

@ElizabethWallace The weather was the best in the country for the rest of our trip, so said the weather reports. It was quite lovely and we had an amazing time.

i also noticed the height and the contrast of the water tower to the skyscrapers. hope to see more old and new pics.
what was the deep dish pizza like?
so that's chicago weather - wind, followed by rain, then sun? crazy!

Yes, that's Chicago weather in a nutshell. Aren't you glad you got to experience the full package? It's been a while since I was in Chicago last. I liked to go to the Museum of Science and Industry when I was in Chicago. Did you get to any of the museums? It sounds like you, buying dresses at Saks. I might not know you real well, but for some reason that sounds about right. I'm glad you had a wonderful trip.
