Your Last Graduation

I'm expecting only cuteness as we drive three hours to watch Amyra, my niece "graduate". My sister homeschools her. She's graduating K-4, so my sister is throwing a graduation for her. I have heard of kindergarten graduations, but my sister likes to go all out. So Amyra will be reading out of some of her books, and she'll do some counting, reciting memory verses...It'll be six hours there and back in a single day, but to see her it will be worth it. At least my brother-in-law and sister are providing lunch (they are using part of their church's building...the church doesn't mind...the pastor is our cousin).
What is the last graduation you attended?

A year ago my oldest graduated high school.
In a couple weeks I'll be going to 2 more graduations. My twins are graduating middle school, they'll be high schoolers in the fall.
And the next one down will be graduating elementary school and moving up to middle school in the fall.
One baby left in elementary school! He's going into 3rd grade!

@AmbiePam No, I do not like that they're growing up. I was ready for the oldest to grow up because he was always such a struggle, even when he was little. School work was the biggest pain because he just didn't care and I didn't know how to get him to care. The younger kids aren't as bad.. sure the teenagers are moody, but the good still usually outweighs the bad, so I'd still rather just pause time than to see them grow up anymore!

@katsmeow1213 this sounds very familiar to me... on the school work and not knowing how to get them to care

I remember our son's senior kindergarten graduation very well, the teacher put a lot of effort into making it a very special day, that marked when the children start going to school full time. I also loved our son's university graduation when he got his first degree, that was special, it meant he was a man and ready to take on the world.

Oh goodness, you make me think. I believe my last graduation was my daughter for University. But it might have been my son for art school.

That graduation of your niece in K-4 could be so nice to attend because your niece gets to review what she learned with an audience to watch her .
The last one was just this May 22 , when our daughter graduated in her Medicine course . It was only for about 3 hours .

These events are so cute! We just attended a K-4 graduation with 3 children. It was different.

Is it just her or will she be with other homeschoolers? We participate in a variety of groups here that hold actual graduations for the 8th and 12th graders.

It was just her. As she gets older they plan to hook up with other homeschool groups that do what you're talking about. I'm just glad it wasn't in an auditorium like I thought it might be in. That would have been really weird with one child.

I'm sure that will be adorable!
The last graduation I went to was my own college commencement--last year. I was a nontraditional student and it took me quite awhile to get to that point, so it felt like a huge relief.
