A Drive in Rural New Zealand

Yesterday was a beautiful winter's day, the sun shining after a heavy frost in the morning. My husband and I decided to go for a drive into the country and visit a few nearby places we haven't seen in a while. Please note, the photo here was taken elsewhere, about eight months ago, in a completely different part of the country.
We headed for a roadside café, about 40 minutes drive away, enjoying the scenery as we went. Now that it's winter, the grass is green again and both cows and sheep were grazing happily in their paddocks. Snow had fallen on the nearby hills over night, explaining why the air was so crisp.
We arrived at the café, but were disappointed to find it seemed to have changed hands since we were last there. Everything about it was mediocre. We decided however, it was the outing together that was important, not the food.
We slowly made our way back home by a different route, visiting a couple of small towns along the way, again ones we hadn't been to for a while.
I enjoyed my day out and about, experiencing a slower paced way of life. The change in surroundings, although only a few hours, was most refreshing.

@valmnz It is always refreshing to take such trips along lesser traveled places.Talking about climates,we are expecting the Monsoon rains to start within three days.

@valmnz Here where I live,if one does not want to go out, there won't be much problem. But there are areas, where it gets flooded, though not on a large scale.

Too bad the cafe had changed hands. Sounds like a nice winters day.
