MyLot has helped me tremendously by taking my mind off the passing of my husband's only living brother. Not entirely, but enough to stop my tears. For that, I thank all my dear friends.
The Sunday of our Chicago trip, we took a city tour on the deck of an open bus after a nice breakfast. We were able to get off and on to the next bus with barely a 20 minute wait. Among the many things we saw were Willis Tower, the Wriggly building, the penthouse where Lady Gaga lives, former speakeasies and sites of gangster murders back in the time of prohibition, Marshall Fields department store, which is a Macy's, etc.
The most fun was a stop at Navy Pier, an amusement park. The photo is from our view atop the new Centennial Ferris wheel. Yes, we went in it! It was air conditioned and had heating and a TV! Each car holds 8 people. It had opened that Friday.
What a great city!

I've heard that the Navy Pier is a fun way to spend the day. And the open bus tour sounds interesting also.
I am glad that you have been able to find comfort with writing and reading during this difficult time. And if it keeps you from crying that is good, after knowing someone so closely for so long there are bound to be plenty of tears as it is. And although crying does no good they say, it does relieve my heart when I use it as an outlet. Sometimes its like a purge for all of the bad and the sad. But you stroke Doodles and try to find comfort in knowing that he is in a better place, and every day, you and your husband's hearts will heal.

I've been off and on. We are still having work done in the house and deck. Our younger son stopped by to see us, especially his dad. Our sis in law called about the arrangements and to tell us that our older son brought her salmon and vegetables from Zabar's for dinner last night. We just received gorgeous flowers from our younger son's fiancé's parents. I've been texting the arrangements to all. Sitting here is solice for me. I cry silently, because Doodles gets scared. He has been so awesome for the both of us to cuddle into. He won't leave my side. He must sense it all.
Navy Pier was beautiful to see. They had a conservatory with palms and water works. My hubby had an ice cream cone, I had a couple of licks and a bottle of water. Lol! Otherwise, it would be more fun for the grandkids. My brother and the boys told me to go, so I went.

@DianneN When we considered going, that was on our list of places to visit, and there was an aquarium park that I wanted to see, along with taking a river cruise. Sadly I cannot get out of province insurance, so its too risky to leave Ontario for more then a few hours.
I hope that today is a better day. A little every day.

@DianneN If I remember correctly the company that owned the ferris wheel wanted to pay less in rental of the land and county wouldn't budge. It was here for about two years, but I never made ot to the beach to ride on it though I saw on the news that you could see mile down either side of the beach and the most popular time for rides was sunset

What a great time you had on that tour- I would love that! And the Ferris Wheel? Don't know if I'd be up for it- excuse the pun- ha! Probably too scary for me.

The photo is very lovely, thanks for sharing.Good to know you enjoyed ChicagoWhen l was younger, i liked visiting USA, but as l get older, l feel it`s too hectic and too dangerous for me there.I mean l live in a place where l can walk for an hour or more after midnight without worrying or being scared.
Im really sorry for the loss.
