I wrote about the man who installed my washed machine and many people thought he was trying to scam me in any way. That was not the case.
He has known me for several years, but he cannot accept that Leticia and I cannot do the heavy work yet know what is to be done. He thinks that women are poor damsels in distress and doesn´t understand that that was never like that.
This man, as others here, have trouble accepting that women know some things and are capable of giving orders.
He was showing off when he told me by phone that he needed other things. The price of those fittings was next to nothing, but he wanted us to know that he was in command. Unfortunatly for him, he encountered two witches.
He did well all the heavy work but we pointed our fingers to the small pieces he had to put together.

It goes to the time where women were housewives. Until the 1970's in my country a woman married with no specific contract of marriage was needing to have an authorization of her husband to open a separate bank account or to sign any act in a notary's office. The goal was to protect the interest of the household because a woman was supposed to not know anything about money and business
. If you think about it, our society has evolved more in the past fifty years than in the 2 previous centuries

I wholly agree even though there is a long way to go.
I was blessed to be born in an intelectual elite where respect for people was important.

@marguicha I agree that it depends completely of the family. I have always seen marriage contracts in my family authorizing women to manage themselves their real properties, but when you look at the notarial archives, only about 10% of couples had marriage contracts during the 19th and 20th C, so quite all women were supposed to be under marital authority until the 1970's. A change of attitude needs time, and I think that it is done in France now.

@marguicha In that case, you have no right to know such things.

It is more than that. The real problem is that we are women
