Yesterday in Kalamazoo

This morning I took my bike out for a short 11-mile ride. And while I had a Groovy song running through my head, my thoughts also turned to Michigan.
Yesterday in Kalamazoo, an alleged inebriated driver plowed into a group of nine cyclists, killing five and injuring the other four.
Because he was supposedly drunk, I'm hoping they get him for every single count of whatever type of murder charge the DA can get.
Because he was drinking, he shouldn't be able to use the "I didn't see them" defense, which always results in a slap on the wrist, even when the result is a dead cyclist.
I do have a couple instances where I have to ride in traffic, and believe me, that did weigh heavily on my mind as I rode those sections.
You might hate cyclists, and sometimes rightly so, but we're people, just like you. Our lives matter. Maybe not to you, but they matter to us. We didn't become any less human when we got on that bike this morning. What happened in Michigan yesterday was murder, plain and simple.
Anyway, the above photo of my bike with Humpty Dumpty was taken by me last summer. You might have seen it before. The song below was in my head as I rode.
The full, 9:36-min version from Second Toughest in The Infants. Enjoy! (P.S.: Crazycrazycrazycrazycrazycrazycrazycrazy)

I thought from the article title that your song might be Glen Miller's I've Got A Girl In Kalamazoo - hope the drunk driver faces serious jail time

I never thought of linking a theme. Good idea, I just went with what my head was playing as I rode.

Thank you. It's one of my favorite ones I've taken of my bike.

You would think so, even drunk that is hard to miss.

The beef we sometimes have with cyclists are those not staying within bicycle lanes and straying into auto lanes. This is particularly prevalent with groups of cyclists who bike side by side rather than in line. Some cyclists are very careless in forgetting a bike isn't a car that can keep up speed wise and jerking into a car lane is dangerous.

It's one reason that, if I'm not mountain biking, I ride bike paths as much as possible.
