iTunes cannot connect to my iPod...

Recently, I decided to import a CD album I have into my iPod touch so I can listen to it on the go. I imported it to my PC using iTunes and was ready to move it to my iPod. When I connected my iPod to my PC the computer recognized it but iTunes gave me an error message telling that iTunes cannot connect to my iPod because an invalid response was received from the device. Before my PC was upgraded to Windows 10 and before I got the latest version of iTunes I did not have this issue. Anyone know how to fix it? I've searched online and have not been able to find a solution.

That I have never done for fear that I will lose all my music as I upload music to my iPod manually and I do no keep the files in my iTunes library..
