A song that reminds you of someone

Many songs remind me of people in my life. I am quite a sentimentalist. My song challenge entry, sad songs, was influenced by songs I associated with my father. My first girlfriend – Rod Stewart’s Sailing – we met on a cruise in 1977 and this song was the last one played in the bar for us to dance to each night. My Mum – Elvis Presley – Love Me Tender – she is a big fan of Elvis. My sister in happier days – Donny Osmond – The Twelfth Of Never My Dad – Nat King Cole – Stardust – he loved this and when I learned that the song was set to Tchaikovsky’s Pathetique Symphony and bought him a copy of tht he played it many times over before his death. My science fiction group friends – Metallica – Imperial March from The Empire Strikes Back – often played at our house parties. My Grandfather – Josef Locke – Hear My Song. My granddad often sang and whistled this to himself. My Aunt Pauline – Anything by Bob Dylan, who she adored. No doubt there are many more too, though I was surprised how many friends and relatives I have to who I can’t match up a song too. Youtube – Josef Locke – Hear My Song Arthur Chappell
Wiki: Josef Locke was the stage name of Joseph McLaughlin (23 March 1917 -- 15 October 1999), an Irish tenor singer who was successful in the United Kingdom ...

I love music of all kinds, from classic to latin folk to pop. I want a special music played deppending on a certain mood. During my teen years, Elvis was my very own love. I know by heart most of his songs.

I dont think I have songs that remind me of people, but I do have foods/smells. Vanilla Malt will ALWAYS be grandpa. Gram is roast beef, hers, cooking on the stove.

@JohnRoberts yes, the film is a biopic about the search for Locke when he was missing - Ned Beatty plays him

I am drawing a total blank right now. I have songs that remind me of places and things, but not people.

My husband loves Josef Locke too. It's quite true that certain songs are associated with particular people in our minds.

To me, Locke has an 'old-fashioned' voice but a lovely one. Thanks for the chance to hear him.

Geographical songs often serve to remind me of people that lived in the places about which these songs were written. "Moonlight in Vermont," for example, reminds me of the young man I once admired.
"Moonlight in Vermont" por Ella Fitzgerald y Louis Armstrong, del disco "Ella And Louis" (1956).
