Last night, a shooter in Orlando, Florida shot up a nightclub. There were 50 dead and over 50 wounded, as reported by CNN. Facebook has set up a safe check for people in the area. If you live in the Orlando area, you can declare yourself safe and check on friends in the area.

@Marty1 I got a frantic text message about whether someone was safe this morning. They sent it to the wrong number. I answered them and told them they had a wrong number so they would know. I pray that Gloria and friends are safe.

@Hatley OMG, Patsie. How horrible. Were you there or did you see it on TV? I saw people jumping and felt sick and I did not know any of them. I'm so sorry!

That is awesome that they did something like this. We need more security features available to the world.

It is awesome. People used to have to wait for a letter or a rare long distance call to find out if people were safe. Now they can check in instantly. I think Twitter is good for that, too.

I love how Facebook has started doing that when there are tragedies.

This was a terrible happening. The safe check is a good idea I guess but if someone doesn't check in you might be more worried than ever.

The people that I saw who checked themselves as safe would not have been in that nightclub. Just saying.
