Got My Laptop Back. Now Must Beware of the EMP Attack!

That's just great! Got my laptop repaired just in time to hear a report on how terrorists or rather "rogue nations" plan to shut down the entire world using EMP.
What is EMP? EMP stands for “electromagnetic pulse” and apparently it's "the most significant threat" to the United States and our allies in the world.
Just heard this report today. Did some extra research and found an article dated 2014. (See link below.)
Quote from the WSJ article: "Our food and water supplies, communications, banking, hospitals, law enforcement, etc., all depend on the electric grid. Yet until recently little attention has been paid to the ease of generating EMPs by detonating a nuclear weapon in orbit above the U.S., and thus bringing our civilization to a cold, dark halt."
2014??? Incredible! A significant threat??? It's 2016 and my TV happened to be turned on this morning, and it happened to be on the CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network), "The 700 Club with Pat Robertson" program where this "threat" was being discussed.
If this EMP threat spells impending DOOM, what should we do?
(Sigh.) This stuff is way beyond my control.
Already survived 12 years! 2014 to 2016. WSJ article published in 2014, but in the article it says the "warning" came out in 2004. What else can I do but hope and pray it never happens?

In The Wall Street Journal, R. James Woolsey and Peter Vincent Pry write that a nuclear device detonated above the U.S. could kill millions, and we've done almost nothing to prepare.

Yes. If we're going to panic, we need to reserve our energy for that time. POWN. Panic only when necessary!

It does. But as you can see they have been talking about the possible event for over a decade. Doesn't mean it can't happen. Sort of indicates that it is not that easy to pull it off. It's easier to talk about it and scare people. Just sayin'.

Sometimes it is not good to think about such things especially if it worries you. If it is going to happen there is very little you can do about it to stop it.

So true. You can prevent something that is going to happen. But I guess those supplying the warnings believe you can somehow prepare for it and/or prevent it. I suppose there is nothing wrong with making preparations and if you can't prevent something, at least do something that will lessen or minimize the damage. Don't Mormons store a food supply in their basement? That's what I heard. I don't know that for a fact. But they were doing their food storage thing long before this EMP threat.
