Flashback of Your Childhood Memories

While I was doing some paper work, my eyes caught the story of Daedalus and Icarus - one of the most remarkable myths of the Greeks. It depicts the story between a father and a son and how was the son met his doomed when he disobeyed his father.
Just like Icarus, I was a very stubborn child and got several punishments from my parents because of my disobedience from them like going home late, not eating proper foods, watching television shows too much and a lot more to mention. People who are much older than me keep on telling me that my parents just love me that was why they punished me from my wrong doings. I could not understand it before why must parents punish their kids if they really love them.
My confusion about those things gets clearer as I grow up. I guess that is how things work to each one of us. The answers to our question may or may not unfold as soon as we want it to be but time will come on the right time that we will.
How was your childhood?

I, and my siblings for that matter, grew up not enjoying what other kids did like playing basketball, roaming around with friends or even going to the beach. Summertime was store duty for us and this is probably the reason why we were good at math. However, I don't have regrets. I won't be what I am now if not for what I did and learned when I was younger.

You and your siblings got an advantage with other kids of your age that time because even though you did not enjoy what other kids were doing, you got a skill that gave you an edge to others in the long run. My mom would not allow me to play the whole day and whenever I would ask her permission for me to be able to play outside, she would always give a condition-- to finish the assigned household chores for me first. That was the same condition she gave me if I also would like to watch TV.

@sunrisefan She certainly helped me to be a responsible person. However, I have been really a shy person since I was a kid. I still remember how I will go to my room and stayed there for long hours whenever there will be visitors in our house.

@annierose So, how do you assess now the way your mom handled you as a youngster? Do you find it had helped mold you or kept you in a shell?

I got reprimanded by my mom for breaking things because i didn't listen to her. Other things, we (her kids) were very obedient. We don't watch tv more than we have to. In fact we only watched tv on weekends until 9pm and then we go to bed. No tv on school days ever. WE never came home late. We never played too much than what we were told to.

That is good. Parents who have obedient kids are very much blessed.

I am also in the middle of two girls in the family but it did not become an excuse for me not to do household chores. Anyway, we have a large age gap. I was already 7 years old when my mom gave birth to my youngest sister.

Education is very important. It also means a lot to parents who don't have any other things to give to their kids but education. If the kids are well-behaved, they really bring joy to their parents.

Your parents must be very blessed to have a daughter like you. I was not an obedient child before but I was not as naughty as other kids. It was just like I did whatever I wish to do not thinking if it will be good for me or not.
