Hey, give me your money!

"Hello! My name is Mr. Scam and I'm going door-to-door to try to convince you to give me your money! I've pretended to meet your neighbors and they all agree I come from a great fictional company! Now if you'll just let me come inside and scope out the layout of your house, I can not only take your money but I can add you to a list for potential future robberies..."
Yup. We got that knock at the door again today. It happens every few months. It's always a different individual. Though they sometimes work as teams.
I was planning on being polite and giving a nice, "No, thank you." Before shutting the door in the guy's face. My husband was a bit more blunt.
The guy wanted to argue, which was bold since my husband isn't a little guy. It wasn't until the dog came into the picture and made her displeasure known that the guy turned tail. He practically ran off our porch.
These moments really make me appreciate our dog.
Okay, okay. My husband, too!

We fell for it once, years ago. A young man (in his 20's) came by, selling magazines. Said he was saving up extra money for college.
Like fools, we forked over money for a subscription. And, of course, it never came.
Even more embarrassing, he asked us to put a sticker on our door to let the other "students" know we'd already been solicited.
Fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice, shame on me!

I do not get door to door people. Pretty much, I did have a couple of guys driving a refrigerated truck offer to sell us fish or chicken or something when we were moving. We did not even have them come up to the house. Even if they had the frozen food they were talking about I did not know where it came from or how it was processed. You are correct, though. People who go door to door are suspect.

I've had the meat-sellers come to our door before, as well. Twice. I usually just tell them I can't afford the meat and that we're in hard financial times.
But I agree. I don't want to be buying meat from who-knows what source! I'll stick with my well-known farmer friends or the grocery store!
Unless it's the Girl Scouts, I find door-to-door salespeople to ALWAYS be suspect.

Good for you. Your dog should have taken a piece of the salesman's pride.

We had a phone scam this week. Someone claiming to be from the tax department wanting money for supposed tax fraud. I reported them to the governement scam hotline and the tax department and they said they have been running hot this week. Sadly they will trap a lot of people into giving them details they can use.

@Genipher Not sure though. l've lived in two countries so far Bulgaria and UK and things are much safer in both.
ln my experience at least. l remember meeting some american girls last year and l found it funny how paranoid they were being about stuff but l guess it's because life's a bit more dangerous there.

It really depends on the area.
Chicago? Detroit? New York? Close to the Mexican Border? Eh, you have to be a little more careful.
But there are plenty of places in the U.S. that are perfectly safe.

I just hate to see those sales people. I know they are only trying to earn a living and I try not to be rude, but I say no I'm not interested and close the door. Sometimes I don't even open the door if I look out the peep hole and see a suit and a brief case.

Here it is people supposedly ringing up from banks and insurance company. They get you to reveal you ATM card number and next thing you know your cash has vanished. And inspite of warnings and notices in the ATM to never never reveal your secret pin , you'll be surprised at the number of people who fall for this.

How easily people are duped!
We get warnings all the time here, as well. Not everyone listens. I think it's a lot of our elderly folks that end up falling for the scams.
I wish there was a better way to catch the scammers and put them out of business. But they're so sneaky!

We are always careful in entertaining somebody who knocks at our door. Scammers are all around.

I don't mind talking to them...through our security screen door. But when they get pushy, it's nice to have the hubby and dog backing me up.
And I definitely do NOT want them snooping around our house. We don't have much worth stealing here...I'm more concerned for the kid's safety.

Oh!! a good experience. In India ,such incidents are taking place. I think this is an International Gang. The Modus Operandi is the same.

Our dog is actually the lowest member in our "pack". Hubby is the Alpha.
