Would you believe that I have been retired from teaching for four years now? I guess time flies when you're having fun, and boy, have I been having fun! I still keep in touch with many of the staff and go out for lunch or drinks with them. I went to their annual end of the year school party last Monday. I go every year and still get that school is out for the summer feeling. This year, my outfit was the hit of the party. It was a cooler day, and I chose one of my cooler day walking outfits with matching jacket. One of the teachers is wearing it in the photo, and she wasn't the only one. My former principal wants to wear it on the first day of school. I usually wear all white, so no one at the party could miss me this time. I had so much fun and felt well-loved, welcomed, and missed. And no, I again refused to substitute. I'm having too much fun being retired!

Totally awesome you remain connected with your fellow teachers. Looks like you're having WAY too much FUN. If there is such a thing. Being retired is GREAT!

Thank you! You will love it retirement. What did your hubby teach? My husband retired from the university, but continued running programs he started around the state. When I retired, he went into full retirement.

You're right the 4 years has flown by, I remember when you were in that last year and dreaming of being done. I don't blame you for turning down the offer for substituting, you've done your share.

What that teacher is doiing with her fingers is a rude gesture where I come from

@DianneN It's more like 'Up yours'! If she'd turned her fingers the other way round it would be the victory sign, as used by Winston Churchill.

@DianneN Yes, my husband retired and after a couple of years he got tired of me being so busy. So, subbing has been a good solution.

You seem to be enjoying your retired life. Teacher in my view has a very important role in forming a child . I consider it as a very noble professions. On a lighter side I think the first crush of a boy is normally his teacher :)

@zap_81 I'm so busy now. I could never ever go back to any job. When I taught, it took up my entire day and most of my evening. I don't know how I fit in cooking, cleaning, shopping, or appointments.

@DianneN ha ha. I like your honesty. So why do you say you do not know how you got time to teach ?
