The Whole Case Manager Situation

Many of you who read my posts know some very bad things happened with my mental health case manager over the past few weeks. She said some things that were quite out of line and also yelled at me. I ended up calling her supervisor, she really encouraged us to work it out but also had a long talk with my case manager about her behavior. Last Tuesday, my case manager and I met to talk about things. I got many, many apologies. Not that it is an excuse in the slightest (and she didn't try to use it as one) but apparently there has been something stressful going on in the case manager's life that has effected her work. She is going to be getting counseling herself to deal with this stuff. She's also going to be getting more supervision from her boss, especially to learn about the diagnosis I have and helping me. There were quite a few tears shed on both our parts and she asked me very humbly to please give her another chance. I agreed. So, we are going to give it another try. She admits she still has a lot to learn and a lot to work on about herself. She promised me she will never act like she did again and shared some things her boss explained about my diagnosis that really helped her understand she needs to be much more gentle with her phrasing of things to me. Her boss has also offered to try and bend the rules to get me into a therapy group that the agency refused me access to – so that might be cool. We will see how everything works out I guess. Well that's something. It is nice that she apologized, admitted she made a mistake and is making an effort to change. It's a start, and hopefully it doesn't happen again.

I told her if it happens again, not only will I demand she be written up but I reserve the right to go off on her. She really did seem to feel bad, she cried when we met.

@Lolaze at least she felt sorry. And apologized. However, I agree that if she does it again, you shouldn't give her another chance.

It is. If she were to mess up again, I will do that.
