iPhone 7: A major step backwards

Have you seen the videos for the new iPhone 7? I can't believe it. We are taking a major step backwards in communication. Instead of typing words you can insert pictures of those words (like emojis except I guess they have expanded their "dictionary"). This is like the cave men drawing hyrogliphics on the walls. Our children are already having trouble learning how to spell when they use short forms like 'U' and 'R" and "4". Now they are going to be able to use pictures instead of words in sentences.
The art of writing and communication is dying away and leading to more and more people being illiterate. Do you agree?

Yes, you right. The modern text messaging has set back the standard good grammar and spelling in writing. I dread the time when we'll be on sign language hahaha!

Is this for real? Why on earth would they be doing this? It seems crazy to me. I guess you can type words if you want to?
