iPhone 7: A major step backwards

Have you seen the videos for the new iPhone 7? I can't believe it. We are taking a major step backwards in communication. Instead of typing words you can insert pictures of those words (like emojis except I guess they have expanded their "dictionary"). This is like the cave men drawing hyrogliphics on the walls. Our children are already having trouble learning how to spell when they use short forms like 'U' and 'R" and "4". Now they are going to be able to use pictures instead of words in sentences. The art of writing and communication is dying away and leading to more and more people being illiterate. Do you agree?

They're just trying new things but If this becomes a thing and the whole world will be using it then I might agree with you. They are creating a new generation of illiterates.

Yes, you right. The modern text messaging has set back the standard good grammar and spelling in writing. I dread the time when we'll be on sign language hahaha!

I'm not too worried about my kids, as they are grown, but then the next generation.......

Is this for real? Why on earth would they be doing this? It seems crazy to me. I guess you can type words if you want to?

The way it is demonstrated is typing in the whole message and then touching on a word to replace it with a picture.

@patgalca So it sounds like you still have to type it first - so I wonder why you'd bother then replacing words with photos.

@JudyEv I'm not sure if you have to type it first or not. I think that's just the way the showed what picture you would use for given words. But I'm not sure.
