Photo taken by me – Pub sign for Q – Stalybridge
Preston, England
June 24, 2016 3:08am CST
It is a big voting day in the UK as after months of propaganda and nonsense from both sides, it is finally our chance to vote on whether to stay in the European Community or leave it. I am very much in favour of the remain option. I went to vote early on at a nearly empty polling station. My vote was for remaining in the EU. From there I headed by bus into Stalybridge to get some pub sign photos and other images. I stopped off briefly for a beer in Q, the pub that is in the Guinness Book Of Records for the shortest pub name in Britain. I found it quite an ordinary bar and the service was poor. Afterwards I got a kebab and went to a bar to see some friends before moving to the science fiction group meeting at another bar. Some friends there were kind enough to offer me a lift home. My sister’s campaign to destroy me is heating up. I spotted notes she left lying around that show she has been talking to housing associations and a social worker just called Alan about selling my mum’s house to get her a smaller place and noting that she needs to deal with someone else living in the property too, namely me. At no point has she involved me in these plans for my future. Surely the housing people and social worker should be insisting she or even they involve me in some such discussions? She is due to talk with this Alan on Monday at 11.30 am. It’s not stated if this is by phone or if she is meeting him at his office or if he is coming to the house. Her notes also have two intriguing words at the base too – “Solicitors-slander’” No clue as to how she is fielding that one if it is about me, which seems likely. Arthur Chappell

You must have been very disappointed with the outcome Arthur, especially since everyone has been expecting a vote to remain being the outcome. I was one of the votes to leave, so you can blame me.

@Asylum I would never blame anyone for exercising their democratic rights - I do think we made a terrible mistake

@arthurchappell The one thing that I cannot understand is why Gibraltar was allowed to vote. They are not even a member of the EU, so for Britain to remain would not result in any EU control over the island.

@Asylum that surprised me too - they were the first declaration called and they were in favour of staying in

Sounded like quite a long day for voting... I heard they were open from 7am until 10pm & there was a much larger turnout, especially from the older generation. I believe everyone who holds a British Passport or has British Citizenship can vote from anywhere in the world. I hope everything else can be worked out soon. All The Best.

The results of the referendum come as a surprise this morning. Sounded yesterday that they were confident of a stay vote. I really hope you get included in the discussions before too much longer. I'd be bothered enough to confront her over it.

Get your own place then nobody has control over you. It's a good feeling that as long as you pay the rent/mortgage you can do your own thing without answering to anyone.

Sad that the rest of the people are not as wise as you. Now that the result is out, the PM has resigned, and UK has not a single trade agreement signed with any other country, how will the import and export work out? I wonder if other countries will slap a tariff on UK products, and whether UK will slap a tariff on all imported goods. No matter what, UK will be worse off than ever.

I feel sad for the UK with the result. to my mind nothing but bad can happen from this. Had I been in the UK I would have been heavily campaigning on the "Remain" camp, but I am not sure it would have made any difference as too many people believed the nonsense UKIP were spouting. Like the pub sign.
