The Wallflower Turns Into A Butterfly

I have always been a wallflower. I'm very shy and very quiet and most of the times I prefer to listen than talk. I could go unnoticed most of the times. But being overseas have opened my shell a little bit. Tonight I found myself conversing comfortably with strangers which I don't normally do. I guess I'm becoming a social butterfly now. What a refreshing change. Have you guys ever passed this stage of shyness? Did you just outgrow it or did you do something to overcome it? How did you overcome it?

Great news. glad you are making friends i think people outgrow it when they come in contact with wide circle of friends but a part of their nature remains,:)

I'm glad of my tiny progress as well. I hope to be more open to strangers later on.

good for you! I don't think I've ever passed my shyness - but that's how I'm comfortable anyway...

I'm okay with being shy but sometimes I wish I was less shy. Like when I'm working at the hospital and I need to ask someone something. It takes me ages because I'm shy. And that's not how it should work if I want to be efficient in my job aye.

That sounds like me. When I joined Twitter and Facebook and other sites like Mylot, I'm less shy and comfortable with myself. But in person, I get flustered, except for maybe at church.

Hi Kristen yes I'm socially okay online but a bit awkward to strangers in real life. It's really a feat for me to interact with strangers even at church. But I do talk to them if they initiate the conversation first.

It's good that you are coming out of your 'shell'. I'm sure you're having more fun as a result.

Yes Judy I'm hoping the same. I think I can get more out of my life if I'm not shying away.

You a wallflower? Not appearance wise but personality wise it can be. Some of us are just naturally shy and quiet preferring to stay out of the spotlight. I am an incurable introvert who will never change and at my age, it doesn't matter.

Yes I've always been a wallflower ever since I was young. I like to just blend, listen and not talk. I reckon if I was absent no one would notice lol. Unless they are my circle of friends.

Good thing that you overcome that shyness. I mean it isn't bad it just that you need to talk to people and be friends with them.

It actually felt good. I used to think I'm too shy that I'm weird but now I feel normal.

@flapiz I grew up in the States and really was not totally my own person. I moved to Israel in 1986 and now I make my own decisions and feel what I feel. I am at time not as outgoing as I was there.
