Diary – Sunday 26th June 2016 – Part One - Bee Nest In My Shed

Real drama today as my sister and mum noticed lots of bees hovering round my shed – a spare storage shed I was bought to keep my books in, as my only other space in the house is my small bedroom.
I opened the shed to find a mall bees nest in there – only about 20-50 bees so probably only just built. The shed door has warped creating a large gap in the base. I hit the shed with insect spray and knocked the paper thin nest out sweeping away the debris and dead bees later. I resprayed the shed but with the warping I’m nervous more bees could move in.
My sister, who despises me was ranting that my stuff is all crap anyway and she’s going to have her sons come and throw all my things out – my camping gear, books, my vinyl record collection, etc., are vulnerable there – not sure which is worse – bees or relatives. Sadly, with the already dwindling population of bees I probably just contributed to their extinction.

@boiboing right now I would swap my sister for a bee - reminds me of this Monty Python song -

I've had a wasps nest in the garden shed and felt no compunction in destroying it, but bees are a different matter. I think there are bee-keepers who will gladly remove them for nothing. I understand that you needed to get rid of them quickly though.

I think you need a big secure padlock to stop your pesky sister effectively stealing your stuff.

@Poppylicious the shed is fragile enough - the padlock already on it wouldn't make much difference

do you have a friend that might store the really important impossible to replace things? I might shift some of it. your sister needs to go home
