Have you felt the Presence of a Higher Power?

It is only natural to think of something more potent than us though as a species we are right at the top; others have to kowtow to us.
We do not have it our way as there are too many imponderables that make our plans go awry. We are on a putting out fire mode though most are self-created. But it cannot be denied that we are not calling all the shots.
When things seem to be totally out of my hands, I have felt an unseen hand guiding and comforting me. What I had in mind pales in comparison to what I got in the end. And issues that looked intractable are soon water under the bridge and life is smooth sailing for a while.
That subtle change in course and acceptance of the new reality cannot be explained only by my thinking or effort. I am led onto a new path that I did not even know existed. I also meet few out of the blue.
Have you had similar experiences and if so, how do you make sense of them?

Yes, absolutely. It is no something to make sense of so much as appreciate and accept.

Yes , i always feel that way my friend . When i have a problem , i cry and cry in our bedroom while hubby isn't in yet, telling God my worries . After a while , it's as if His arms are all in me , hugging me . Then , i would feel relief . I know it's Him making me feel His power . .

@Shiva49 Yes indeed, that is the right approach and one cannot absolve oneself of the results of one's own actions.

Oh yeah, I have felt and smelled His presence. The time I felt Him was when I was interceding for lost loved ones and I felt arms wrap around me. Thinking it was someone in the room, I looked up and no one was near me. Then the time I smelled Him was during a deliverance and there were two women standing with me and another woman sitting on the floor. The women standing and I all smelled a strong cinnamon scent, but the one on the floor did not.

Thanks for sharing your personal experiences.
I have felt the unseen influence at times when things fall in place out of no where.
Of course, I did not see or smell any presence
For me it is more of others helping me out by going out of the way - siva

At times, during my long life so far, I have felt that I have been guided by something, or another.
Was it a higher power of some kind?
Was it only my own soul perhaps, acting as this higher hand, guiding me along?
Or perhaps, I have a guardian angel helping me too.
Does God, or Jesus, or anyone else ever guide us directly themselves?
Who was it who saved me a few years ago then as I was getting bashed, when a great power entered me from somewhere, and I avoided the bashing then from continuing on anymore.
Some great power entered me, and I told the ruffian in a large powerful, almost authoritarian or commanding voice to stop. Something hit him and he just stood there in his boots shaking. He looked at me once more, then he left.
Also, when I was prompted to speak up one day to the owner of a bookshop, and I asked him if it was for sale.
He said, "Yes." I replied, "I will buy your shop then."
Just a week or two later, I had resigned from my job, and I was managing his shop, as the proud new owner of this secondhand bookshop.
What prompted me to do that, to ask him out of the blue if his shop was for sale, yet alone to go into his shop on that particular day and time, when it was for sale.
These types of events seemed to be guidance, but at other times, I have asked for the door to be opened up myself, and sometimes it was done so, and some higher power then came through to me.
This happened once to me in a small stone church in the country once. I was in the empty church with my wife, and her friend. It was Easter Saturday. I knelt down and I asked Jesus to make Easter real for me.
Suddenly, I was whisked back in time through a great light tunnel.
I was then in a large cave, where I saw a body laying on a flat rock, wrapped up in cloth. Suddenly, a great bright light, coming from behind me spoke to me. I turned around. It was Jesus, who then told me simply, that my sins were forgiven.
I guess, because all things are connected, everything guides or helps everything else to move along, in some way, or another.
Sometimes these connections mesh more strongly together, and so are stronger in pushing or pulling you along a certain path, or getting you to move off in a different direction, for a while.
It's not unlike like when you fall into a river, you move along it faster if it is in flood than if it is a merely just trickling along, and it also of course depends on the size of the river too.
Yes, I think there is more than just me living my life. I do not control it all. I am sure we all have a connection to some higher power, or guidance.

@Shiva49 Thanks siva, each person's experiences are one of a kind for them too though, I guess.
My wife had an interesting explanation for the one that I had in that old church. There were priest's bodies buried under the stone marble floor.
She thought that some of their spirits might have made a request to God/Jesus for me, which also helped me to have this most unique of experiences.
The Catholics believe that certain saints/holy people etc can intercede for us like that.
Every time that I recall that experience it breaks me up, because the words used to me, included my name.
"Your sins are forgiven, Stephen."
was what Jesus said to me that day.
I felt greatly humbled by the experience. I didn't think that my own particular sins could be forgiven I guess. Anything and everything can be forgiven. Love can heal all wounds.

@Shiva49 "I remain true to my beliefs, the core of which has not changed, but I am still searching for the ultimate truth."
This line to me contains a hidden answer to finding the ultimate truth. Perhaps we should change some of our beliefs sometimes, if they are not finding for us, or leading us closer towards, the ultimate truth.
Should we always remain true to our beliefs then, or should we perhaps re-examine them from time to time?
Our beliefs I believe reside in our mind, and they are largely comprised of our unconscious thoughts, guiding us from the other side of our consciousness.
We should by all means re-examine these beliefs and unconscious reactive thoughts, from time to time, with our conscious mind to see if they are still fully serving us, or if they might be tailored a bit more to better suit the growing person that we now are.
We all grow out of old beliefs over time, and often we might put on a whole new suit of beliefs as we grow higher in our awareness and consciousness, and when we are embracing the love in our hearts even more.

Wow, you said it all. And eloquently too Steve!
I looked for a matching image to my topic but you managed it where I failed, thanks for your adornment!
You have had real life experiences to share and inspire!
I think you look and reflect harder than others obviously do.
Yours are one of a kind.
I have been bailed out and I bow down to the unknown force that seems to be the guardian angel.
When one door closes many open and that is the beauty of life.
Overall, I feel blessed and I love to be led but make my best effort with the cards dealt as life is a deck of cards that change all the time.
I own up for my actions but thankful for the higher guidance - siva
