Of Reality and Dreams

I lived in a trailer with several friends shortly after high school. That was 11 years ago now but it still seems like just yesterday in many ways. It was my first true experience with living away from home and I had several changing experiences within those walls. I developed anxiety at one point and strained the relationship I had with my friends. I learned what it truly meant to be an adult there as well. I mention it now because just yesterday I woke from a dream that reminded me of that time in my life. This dream had a lot of similarities to the real experiences I had. There were people, while not being the true people I lived with, they were meant to represent them. The thoughts and feelings I had within the dream reminded me of the anxiety I had at that time in my life. Of course in this dream I felt these anxieties but in a different light, with the experience and knowledge I now have. The teenage me was quite prideful and yet very very vulnerable and sensitive. In my dream there were situations that presented themself and I couldn't help but realize that I could get through these experiences in a positive way. I suppose you could say the entire dream was my past rewritten. I find the whole dream to be intriguing. Now that i am awake I can appreciate the dream and it's meaning and I can't help but smile over it. Of course there was a part of the dream (at the very ending) that was really peculiar. I stood outside the home and on a street that was really beautiful. It was surrounded with trees and other houses and lush and just... inviting. I realized within my dream that this street was something I had dreamt of before. I can't remember the name of the street now but it was the same name as in the previous dream. Of course in this previous dream the street was more forbidding. A symbol within a symbol really. Previous Dream : Forbidding and Ominous. (as pertains to the road within the dream) Last Night's Dream : Inviting and Peaceful. I can still see the street within my mind's eye and it reminds me a lot of a combination of road I've seen before. I don't know, I suppose I feeling nostalgic and somewhat romantic this morning. I'll be heading off to bed here shortly so I suppose it's a mood I am happy to be in before slumber

It must mean you feel strong enough to face the world and feel the enjoyment of accomplishment. It's a new day.

Something like that at the very least.

A trailer dorm room. Dreams can really be disturbing, huh?

It was essentially that when I was younger. Though none of us went to college, atleast not right after high school. Dreams are deefinitely weird. Atleast mine are.

It's good that your dream was vivid and positive. I never remember mine.

I go through spurts of not remembering versus remembering them.

Isn't it strange that even though we dream of things in the past we seem to possess the experience and knowledge of the present? I often wonder if we are still working through these situations/emotions from the past in our dreams.

I believe that we are. Or that the situations are so similar that our subconscious reminds us of that time in our lives.
