I’m always fascinated by little tidbits of information that I find about Elvis from time to time.
He starred in 31 scripted motion pictures, starting with “Love Me Tender” in 1956 and ending with “Change of Habit” in 1969.
I thought this was interesting. I found this statement on an Elvis calendar: “Despite enormous popularity around the world, Elvis’ touring schedule stayed within US borders. Despite Elvis’ limited personal appearances outside the US, international record sales comprised about HALF of his total sales throughout his career.”
So Elvis didn’t make personal appearances internationally. However, on January 14, 1973, “Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii” Via Satellite was broadcast via global satellite to THIRTY different countries. The show attracted more viewers than man’s first walk on the moon. This show, including merchandising sales, raised money for the Kui Lee Cancer Fund in Hawaii.
Elvis was honored as one of the US Jaycees’ Outstanding Young Men of the Nation in 1971.
Graceland has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior. (Built 1939) according to a marker at Graceland.
Have you ever visited Graceland?
