Ours is a "colorful" President. He is President Rodrigo Duterte who was sworn into office yesterday in simple rites in Malacanang Palace, Manila.
I said "colorful" President because he departed from the traditional ways expected of a newly-installed President. He did not want a lavish celebration, he broke some usual protocols, he had a very defined speech on his line of governance saying he will go against corruption, drugs, and will alleviate poverty; he also wore a light brown, not a typical black pants and "barong" (traditional formal Filipino shirt made of local fabrics like pina or jusi).
His cabinet is composed of the people from the left, right, and middle of the political spectrum in the Philippines, and he called it "rainbow" cabinet. He is the first president from Mindanao, Southern Philippines.
He adds color to our hopes for a better Philippines.

I also did not, but if I knew beforehand his advocacies, he should had. I knew it only after the elections. I also voted for Leni.

He looks so down-to-earth; he feels the pulse of the people; of the common man and the poor. We hope we won't fail this time.

It is one of his good style of governance, he directly entertains people into his office, even if they are poor or belongs to some tribes or minority groups.

@Beatburn it the worry of human rights advocates, those killed might be victims of salvaging to silence them. They were only "small fishes."

@acelawrites There is a great deal of unfairness in the world, isn't there? It seems strange indeed to get a leader who really seems to care.

He does not want lavish celebrations, nor luxury cars saying many Filipinos are poor yet the leaders are riding precious vehicles.

I hope so too. All eyes are on his government. For the next 6 years, we need to be accustomed to his 'foul-mouthed', to his plan that made your eyebrow raise and so many more. But its all worth it for the good country we dreamed of.

He said he will try to avoid badmouthing; he will transform for the sake of the highest office he is holding now. But looking at the bright side, his inaugural speech was good, direct to the point and concrete. We are hopeful that change is really coming.

We just wish he will remain healthy, considering his working hours which he said is usually from 1 p.m. up to 2 a.m. which is not healthy.

Yes, though we do not always like political topics here, we just can soften it the way we write it here.

Yes, his appointments were varied, so we were amazed at how he selected people of different political persuations to lead the various government agencies. Hope he will succeed.
