Hopping across the Medeterean sea, then approaching the 94 countries found in Africa, this postcard eventually found its way to me! With some camel striding - this is what I hear Barry saying - my postcard arrived! Did you know: "The average life expectancy of a camel is 40 to 50 years. A full-grown adult camel stands 1.85 m at the shoulder and 2.15 m at the hump. Camels can run at up to 65 km/h (40 mph) in short bursts and sustain speeds of up to 40 km/h. Camels do not directly store water in their humps as was once commonly believed. The humps are actually reservoirs of fatty tissue!" It is said that the France created a méhariste camel corps in 1912 as part of the Armée d'Afrique in the Sahara, which remained in service until the end of French rule over Algeria in 1962. How very interesting that is. The newest item to my postcard collection is from Turkey - sadly Turkey is suffering so many terrorist attacks and this card arrived yesterday a day after the last bombing. We need peace in the world, will they never understand that? Thank you @Asylum for my lovely card and stamp - your greetings are very much appreciated. From your hand to mine! Happy Friday everyone! Interesting facts on the species of camels

It looks as though you are the first to receive one of the postcards that I sent from Antalya, although I have heard that there are often long delays in mail from Turkey. I do know that one of the girls got my card from Glossop, where I visited just over a week ago. I cannot imagine a Mail Camel lasting much longer than 10 years with all the work that you create for it. As for the hump, I always that was a postcard sack.

Yes I have, twice, the first time just to Istanbul and the second time to the Asian side as well. I loved it, very similar in scenery to Greece just people are different, no woman on the streets - never see them anywhere, just a mans world which I found quite odd

I knew that camels do not store water in the humps, I did not know that they live so long. Those which inhabits the Middle East and the Horn of Africa are not camels, but dromedary, they only have one hump. Those which inhabits Asia have two humps.
