What do You Say to an Annoying Telemarketer?

You're sitting down at the table to eat dinner. All of a sudden the phone rings. It's another annoying telemarketer. What are you going to say to him or her? Will you say immediately, "No thank you," and hang up. Perhaps you will be sarcastic and say, "I'd love a million of them to be shipped to the bottom of the sea. That's about how far this call is going to get you, into deep water." Maybe you might say, "I'd love to donate, but I don't have any money to give. Perhaps you'd like to ask Barkley, my dog. He's in a generous mood." Okay, come up with something creative.

Well, firstly I rarely answer my phone if I don't know that number BUTT if I did and got a telemarketer I'd force them to have a conversation with me, you see they cannot hang up on me so I'd simply tell them all about my kitties and the pup for at least an hour or so, that usually makes em think twice about callin my number again

My husband has done something similar to that. He even asked the woman for her phone number so he could call and interrupt her dinner. But the dumbest thing I ever heard myself say was, "I'm not interested, but thank you for calling." Oh brother.

@1creekgirl I would never thank a telemarketer for disturbing me.

These days I just immediately hang up. I know it's a bit rude, but most of the ones I get are extremely spammy. I have no interest in getting into a discussion with them.

@pgntwo I get a lot about the time I used to work in heavy industry (I didn't), wanting to speak to the person in the house with the ongoing work-related injury claim (nobody) and other such garbage.

@egdcltd Some of them are downright rude, including swearing at you... Should not be allowed.

Hand the phone to a child and tell them it is Santa Claus!

Two words. 'Not interested.' Then I hang up. I'm afraid that when it comes to annoying telemarketers, I'm not creative at all.

I know they're also forced to do those things because if they didn't do that, they'll fail their job and result of losing job, but whenever I received those type of calls I just said, 'Thank you for the offer but I'm not interested, hope you understand.

i usually just say 'no thank you and hang up, but I have been known to say 'Get a life, and stop interrupting mine!'
