TCBY Walmart and Fireworks

Yesterday my kids and I went to get groceries. We decided first to stop and get ice cream. We are going to ask many different ice cream shops we can this summer. We saw TCBY and had never been there so we pulled in. For just two small bowls of ice cream it was $8. I was shocked the prices were so high there for ice cream that was nothing special. It was also so hot in there I could not wait to get done and go outside. We stopped at Target and Gamestop so my kids could look around. It was well past dinner time so we went and got a free Value Meal I had a coupon for. We went to walmart to get our groceries. We were there maybe 5 minutes when my son said he was going to be sick. Thankfully we were in the produce aisle and there was a garbage can for putting corn husks in and my son stood there vomiting into it. I was so embarrassed. I gave him a bag and got him to the bathroom where he was in there for at least 10 minutes. I gave him another bag and he got sick again on the way to the van. I had his sister sit in the van with him while I went in to get our groceries picked out and bought. He was completely fine after that but it was sudden after eating he said he is never eating at McDonalds again haha. On the way home we stopped and watched fireworks. I had a short jean skirt on and a short sleeve shirt on. It was so chilly out. My son liked the fireworks for about 5 minutes then was ready to leave. My daughter loved them so we stayed and finished watching them all.

It seems there is a lot of stomach sickness going on this year. I am glad he is better now. You guys really made a day of it. We were on the road yesterday and this truck stop had a Dairy Queen. I really wanted a shake, until I saw the price. A small shake was more than three and a half dollars.

I don't think I have ever eaten at Dairy Queen. The prices at some places are outrageous. I will not spend that kind of money on myself but I will on my children. I like them to experience new things and be happy.

@Genipher We buy half gallon cartons at the store for $3 or less. Thats the price of one small ice cream at an ice cream shop. This is just something fun for my kids to be spoiled with going to all different ice cream shops over their summer vacation.

@shaggin I find it cheaper these days to just buy our ice cream from the store. And the last few times we actually went to DQ, the ice cream had a chemical taste to it. It's just not worth it!

Sounds like it was a good time except for the fact that your son got sick. That happens to me whenever I eat at a particular fast food as well. I'm guessing it is the MSG that they use in their food.

Ahh that could be. I felt really bad for him and I was terribly embarrassed this happened at walmart. It was an ice cream store we had never been to so that seems more likely then the food at mcdonalds that we do buy now and then and he has never had a problem with.

@allen0187 He was fine after about a half hour when he had emptied his stomach. McDonalds food is not healthy no but there are a few more options then there was when I was a kid.

@shaggin well, can't say that the food at Mickey D's is healthy. Hope your little man is feeling better now.

That seems very expensive for that ice cream. Perhaps it was that which made your son ill?

He had brownie cookies earlier in the day as well. Maybe just to much junk food with the ice cream.

Oh poor guy. I remember times when my girls just suddenly got sick too. And then seemed fine after.

It was so strange but I'm glad it passed quickly.

McYuckies, er, Donalds has given me similar reactions. Poor kiddo. I had a situation where my daughter peed in Walmart...I wanted to die of embarrassment. I told someone about the mess, apologized, and then we high-tailed it on outta there! Never been to TCBY. But we have a place called Yogurt Extreme. You ever been there? You get to pick out what kind of frozen yogurt you want and then load it up with fruit or candies, etc. They have a whole buffet of goodies to top the treat with. You pay by the ounce. Usually costs us $5 per bowl, so it's a rare treat.

Yogurt Extreme you speak of sounds like Fro-yo, yogurt city, Hoopla and Sweet Frog. They all do the same where you weigh it and pay. Its too costly! We go to each one once a year. I did have to tell someone that he got sick in the garbage can. It smelled awful I was so embarrassed. I do not take my kids to the store sick this was so unexpected! I ate the fries that my daughter wouldn't eat as they were soooo salty. My son only had chicken nuggets though so I can't understand why his stomach got upset like it did.
