When we have visited Kentucky, we researched in advance about some of Kentucky’s history and other aspects of this beautiful state.
First of all, it’s the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln and there are many Civil War forts and battlefields to visit, along with Appalachian festivals and coal field culture. I was born in West Virginia in a small coal-mining town, so Kentucky’s coal mining culture was of interest to me.
African American history, along with American tribal historic sites, such as the Trail of Tears, are popular sites to visit in Kentucky. You can also follow the Bourbon Trail, the Urban Bourbon Trail and the Kentucky Wine Trail. You can move along Kentucky’s Country Music Highway in eastern Kentucky, or visit Bill Monroe’s birthplace in western Kentucky. Bill Monroe is considered to be, the “Father of Bluegrass Music.”
And don’t forget the Kentucky Derby? It’s still on my Bucket List. And then there are the Mammoth Caves, the Cumberland Gap and the Red River Gorge, not to mention the nearly one million acres of national forests.
Kentucky has the largest ELK population east of the Rocky Mountains and black bears and eagles that live in the eastern Kentucky mountains.
You may want to put a visit to Kentucky on your Bucket List.

Don't you just really enjoy reading and learning about other places and cultures? I'm actually reading about India right now and it's very interesting, what I'm learning about the different religions, languages, and cultures there.

@ModernDayWriter How many different languages are spoken in India? How many of those languages can you speak fluently? What are some of the languages that you can speak and/or read?

Kentucky really is a great state. I like the town of Berea. Arts and crafts and music - what more can you ask for?

Berea, KY Is a place I have not visited, but if it has arts, craft and music, it should be a great place to go.

Yes the trails certainly would be tourist attractions. I thought the Urban Bourbon Trail sounded interesting. Kentucky bourbon is known around the world.

Is Kentucky far from where you live. It's just one state away for me.
