I just want to explain to everyone something about Drug Addiction or Substance Dependence. It is something that most people seem to have a bare grasp on. Some even think that they aren't the same as them, too. Also, there is a chance that some of you are having an addiction to something and yet have no idea that you are addicted. Well, let's get started.
Substance Dependence is defined by the DSM-IV (2000) as a maladaptive pattern of substance use leading to clinically significant impairment or distress. If you experience clinically significant impairment within 12 months, then you can be called a substance dependent. Those who are addicted to substances experience at least three of these seven effects (Danya International, 2016):
1. Tolerance
2. Withdrawal
3. Increased Substance Use
4. Persistent desire or unsuccessful efforts to stop
5. Doing whatever is necessary to take the substance (even if it takes too long)
6. Less time on other, more important things.
7. Continued use without knowledge
Take note, substance addiction doesn't have to be drugs. Some get addicted to the smell of solvents. Also, too much intake of anything (whether it be smoking, alcohol or drugs) can cause irreversible damage to the body and death. If you experience some of the following, please call a mental health professional as soon as possible.

You're welcome. :) It's important for everyone to be aware of these signs, as some may be having problems without knowing about it.
