Teaching My Kid Simple Mathematics

I was a bit shocked when I saw my TJ's quiz score, zero. It was a simple mathematics that I thought he could do it easily.
So i called him and we reviewed all the 5 problems. Then I showed him how to do it easily. Trying to explained him why he got zero. The method of writing and how to solve it accordingly. Then I let him solved two other problem and he got it.
I will also show him some youtube in simple mathematics and told him to memorize the multiplication table.

Math is one of my favorite subjects since of my relatives from my late dad side of the family is Francois Veite (1540-1603) who is one of the founders of algebra. .

That's fine. I'm not good in math too, but my husband does and he is the one who tutors my daughters on math problems. Other than that I'm the one handling.

Some kids are not just into math. He could be better in other subjects. When one isn't interested, the learning will be slow.
The moment he gets interested in math, he will get better.

@ilocosboy Yeah coz no matter how much you teach him or teach him math tricks to make things easier, when there's no interest, he still won't learn anything.

we are still using flash cards, I think this help a lot to kids.

I love math especially algebra but my weakness is subtraction. I've learned to improve my math by reading books about math tricks and mental math. I've used iPhone apps to practice my math skills. That's good though that your child has improved his math skills.

I was not so good at math, especially when Algebra and Trig came along. Everything up to middle school I didn't have much problems with. Geometry and Algebra? Forget it.
