Do You Have an Ideal World in Mind?

We are aware we should live much better as a species. But do we know what we want and how to get there?
Many have support systems in place to find peace of mind. We know we are on recall anytime. So it is natural for us to keep in mind that we should find a safe haven after we leave this abode.
However, the issue is how to live better here. We should live in peace for a start though many may say just forget it – accept we cannot live in peace to find peace of mind! Just dodge the bullets and be practical.
Ideal world for me is everyone can live within their comfort zones and mind their own business. But it gets complicated as we live within a society and have to find common ground.
It may be time to go to the drawing board and work backwards starting from a world that the majority wants. If we have no clue, or unwilling to make compromises, then grin and bear what is the present reality.
What are your thoughts on an ideal world, or at least a better one than the present?

@Shiva49 .. Recently, I was shaken up by a guy who is almost 15 years younger than me...forcing me to adopt him...he was so keen that I adopt him that he even planned that I would get cancer in my sixties...and he would look after me. I do not have cancer as of now. He sincerely believed I am lonely. lol. Actually, he does not earn enough and is heavily dependent on his wife to run the show. Here is an unmarried lady with some means. Why not rope her in...and transfer the burden of the new born baby girl on to her. That way, marriage would become harmonious and what does the old woman need anyway. lol. Get what I mean? BTW ...he does not look after his parents, and has nothing good to speak of his in-laws or wife that feeds him. I am to believe he has all honorable intentions towards me.

@vandana7 I know some are like that nowadays, looking for easy prey.
When I got married nearly forty years ago, it was normal for the guy to work and the girl to look after home.
Now both are working and new issues have cropped up.
One is when the woman starts to earn more and want to have equal (read more) say in family matters.
My own approach has changed with the times not that I wanted to call all the shots earlier.
Now there are few on the prowl to look for easy life - live off wife's earnings.
And with one, two children, it is easier as wealth too comes the girl's way.
Caution is the word as we can be swept away before we know it!
I can see danger signals all the way in what you have described - siva

Some people are hard to comprehend it complicates our pursuit of peaceful world. They rather impose their will on other and does not make any agreements. It will be hard to achieve a peaceful world unless there will be some catastrophic event that will unite humanity.

That is a fact - catastrophic events can only unite us and then it is back to our divisive ways.
Also when you give an inch, others are ready to grab a mile.
We have to get over our set ways that have hindered the peace process and coexistence.
Weapons are sold for profit though everyone knows they create only misery.
Cannot the major powers come to some understanding to halt this trend and even reverse the damage done?
Yeah, we have to learn and relearn the hard way - siva

Sadly there can never be any ideal world just because we are too many in numbers and almost everyone has his/her own individuality - which is more uncompromising and non-willing to understand the perspectives of the other(s).
For a better world than the present, I think you said it right when you mentioned - the comfort zones. Live and let others live in peace - if this could be the mantra...

@Shiva49 True. Over the years, more and more are becoming intolerant and non-forgiving at least that is how I see them here. Maybe the competitive lives or the almost everything at your fingertips or anything else, but a lot more people seem to be unhappy and dissatisfied... which makes them weak, vulnerable and even disunited.

@thesids I feel the issue arises when some forge ahead due to various reasons including hard work and focus.
Then others feel left out of the race, unable to catch up.
So they fall easy prey to the machinations of few who exhort them to bring down those ahead.
I feel this is a sad reality with regard to our beliefs too.
Some feel restricted within their beliefs while others live well, even have a ball of a time, with no beliefs.
That brings forth negative reaction from those who follow their set path.
We should compete for the right reasons.
I was never in the wealth race and that attitude helped me to be comfortable with one who was really wealthy, that is an understatement, and others who are 'dirt poor"! siva

Intolerance has been our bane right through but more have access to weapons now that destroy more and hold them to ransom too.
The majority cower in fear as they are disunited.
We should find common ground - the sooner the better - as the world is not based on democracy now.
Whoever we elect the boss remains the same! siva

I like your words of mind your own business..that is one of the main things to me that is a problem in the world.
My ideal world is really just fantasy land..lush green w long and winding roads and just walking forever..walking as long and far as one wants w adequate sustenance along the way and perhaps with a loyal companion.

@Shiva49 Correct it is that small minority of people that would rock the boat and create havoc for the rest. Thank you and Namaste Siva

In an ideal world, people are hard working, they shun stealing mindset or shun exploiting others. Also, people mind their own business and are not after too much luxuries or money.
However, I rather see world moving away and very far way from such an ideal state.
I might sound cynical, but I do not see the world moving towards ideal state, at least for next 100 years.
Also, the way Earth's habitats are getting destroyed and eccentric and sudden weather and climate changes; land, air and water pollution, I am not sure if the Earth will survive and in what form will it survive!

I think our country is a very nice place to live, but I do not like the focus on smart-this or smart-that.
i think too much reliance on technology is not a good thing.
If we meet a very smart terrorist group, our country is crippled.
It does not need to plant bombs or whatever.
It just needs to cut the power supply off, and the cables of telcos, we cannot survive at all.

Yes, Singapore shows the way.
As LKY said - democracy without rule of law is anarchy that many countries better understand.
They think it is free for all.
David Marshall said democracy and freedom comes with responsibilities - we cannot swing our arms around - that is limited to the tip of another's' nose!
We should be grateful for what we have and then add to them after careful thought trading one for another. We should not rock the boat without a care.
I understand your fears.
Technology cuts both ways and we should mature as human beings too - siva

@Shiva49 We can't change the world to our 'ideal world' .. all we can do is to change ourselves .. our way of thinking that is ..

@epiffanie I also believe - each can do but little, but if each does that little all will be done.
Also, The Serenity Prayer is very poignant:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

I recall the words of astronaut Ed Mitchell from up above "A sparkling blue and white jewel: a light, delicate sky-blue sphere laced with slowly swirling veils of white – like a small pearl in a thick sea of black mystery. It takes a moment to fully realize this is Earth – home.”
Yes, we reap what we sow and we know what to sow even and it is within us, implanted for free, and unlimited in quantity - love and compassion. They will multiply in geometric proportion but we just ignore what is inborn to live in a world with endless revenge and getting even.
Not a day too late to turn to the right direction - siva

What I would like to see in my part of the world is that all of us here getting along with one another and everyone being able to enjoy their holidays and us our Sabbath and no one bothering us. We want to live in peace and I would like to see our neighbors also trying.

I have been talking about my personal view that 1% manipulates the agenda and makes the 99% pay for their greed and pride. I have met people of most countries and I can state categorically there is no enmity among the vast majority.
The arms industry is thriving and we have to find a way out of the issues we have created due to that. And then some countries have nuclear arsenal while others cannot. While they might justify that, they should think like those who do not have them. There should be a move towards universal justice.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you - can solve all our problems - siva

There are people that care and people that do not. I will take my building as an example. Earlier than this people thought it was ok to really slam their doors and did not care if it is the time to sleep. I was up but it still annoyed me. I feel like l live in a kindergarten. If the bad would move and only good move it then it would be a nice building.
