From the Terrazza (terrace) of the Grand Hotel dei Cappuccini this photo was take for the postcard trade in Italy almost one hundred years ago. I have no idea exactly how old the postcard is, but its a grand picture at that and a great asset to my collection. The Amalfi Coast line is as beautiful as ever and after a long read on the Wikipedia about the destination depicted in the postcard, I can just imagine how wonderful it must have been getting a card from that area so many years ago. "The Amalfi Coast (Italian: Costiera Amalfitana) is a stretch of coastline on the southern coast of the Sorrentine Peninsula in the Province of Salerno in Southern Italy. The Amalfi Coast is a popular tourist destination for the region and Italy as a whole, attracting thousands of tourists annually.[1] In 1997, the Amalfi Coast was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a cultural landscape" This is the first of three postcards I shall feature this week. They were gifted to me by Malu in Germany and I am so privileged to have them in my collection. Just a thought - I passed by this marvel of a place on my cruise from Athens around the boot of Italy on our way to Napels . . . thats ironic. Enjoy the little youtube I found done by Rick Steves ~ Europe
The town of Amalfi is perched on Italy's stunning Amalfi Coast just south of Naples. Amalfi has a proud history that peaked in the 10th century when it was a...

Despite being produced in bulk, there are probably very few examples of that postcard still in existence. During their heyday postcards were usually received and discarded within a few weeks.

@Inlemay There may be plenty of old postcards available for sale, but they will consist of different examples. There are unlikely to be many of each individual picture.

@Asylum they have no value for me unless they have come from someone I know - that is the true value in a greeting on a postcard for me - and the stamp

If I ever travel to Europe then I'll check out your link. I've no audio at present so will have to wait. Neat postcard. I wondered whether you had the postcard from a previous trip, but then you nicely explained.
