From the Terrazza (terrace) of the Grand Hotel dei Cappuccini this photo was take for the postcard trade in Italy almost one hundred years ago. I have no idea exactly how old the postcard is, but its a grand picture at that and a great asset to my collection.
The Amalfi Coast line is as beautiful as ever and after a long read on the Wikipedia about the destination depicted in the postcard, I can just imagine how wonderful it must have been getting a card from that area so many years ago.
"The Amalfi Coast (Italian: Costiera Amalfitana) is a stretch of coastline on the southern coast of the Sorrentine Peninsula in the Province of Salerno in Southern Italy. The Amalfi Coast is a popular tourist destination for the region and Italy as a whole, attracting thousands of tourists annually.[1] In 1997, the Amalfi Coast was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a cultural landscape"
This is the first of three postcards I shall feature this week. They were gifted to me by Malu in Germany and I am so privileged to have them in my collection.

If I ever travel to Europe then I'll check out your link. I've no audio at present so will have to wait. Neat postcard. I wondered whether you had the postcard from a previous trip, but then you nicely explained.

Beautiful postcard. It's great learning about places we might or might not get a chance to visit.
