Glass Insulators, one of my collections

I've seen several posts about the collections that some of us have. People tend to collect things they love, or things they can easily get, or things that are difficult to find. Some people have expensive collections, others have 'for fun' collections.
I'm a 'for fun' collection person. I have several items that I have collected over the years, but the one I am sharing today is glass insulators. I have 18 of them, and there are no duplicates. A few came from antique shops, but most came from yard sales or estate sales.
One yard sale in particular I visited wasn't very organized and there was a box of 6 of them. I asked the price and the lady said, without much enthusiasm, "Oh, 25 cents for all of them." That was a bargain since the day before I paid $6 for one at an antique shop. Of course this was about 10 years ago so I have no clue what they go for now. I have enough so unless I came upon a very unique one I am finished collecting glass insulators!

My parents used to have a few of those. We often camped out in the desert where there were abandoned poles and once in awhile you would an intact insulator that wasn't shot up.

@AbbyGreenhill Those are beautiful. I always loved those too. I guess the lady didn't know what she had or just wanted to get rid of them, either way that was a awesome buy.

Yes, they are mostly very reasonably priced and together they look good on display.

In the 'old days' they were used on power lines.

@AbbyGreenhill Oh, I see... to insulate or protect the lines, I suppose?

People here collect these too. We have a couple of ceramic ones in the shed but I don't think we have any glass ones.

Ceramic ones, I think I've seen a few but not many.
