Something Green in my Meal

Most of my friends here will know that some years ago, in self-defence, Vince took over cooking. He insists he enjoys it and gets highly excited if we decide to have friends over for a meal. He cooks lovely meals and always serves them up nicely. I am allowed to cook on Tuesdays when he goes to golf in the afternoons.
He experiments with all sorts of dishes and rarely has a failure. The other day we had stir-fry something or other and there seemed to be cabbage in it. But I knew we had eaten all the cabbage in an earlier meal. It turns out he had fried some lettuce and included it in the stir-fry. I'd never heard of cooked lettuce but there are dozens of recipes for it on the internet. I think maybe it is used more in Chinese dishes. Do you ever cook lettuce for a dish?
I don't have a photo of his stir-fry but this is a heart-warming casserole he made recently.

In my country it is very common to cook lettuce but it's something that I don't like eating. I prefer to eat them raw.
I think it's very common in Southeast Asian countries.

@sunilparthan In Western countries lettuce is usually a salad vegetable. It has lots of green leaves which can be eaten.

@ridingbet Oh, I'm sorry about your condition. I gather it's not good for you to have too much vitamin K.

@JudyEv Now I am wondering what cooked lettuce recipes are out there! I know I've had "warm" salads at restaurants - but perhaps it was just the dressing that was heated - not so much the greens itself. Could you detect the lettuce in the stir fry?

I've shredded up some leftover and dumped it into a soup before. It worked just fine. Generally don't even think of cooking it though.

@koopharper I'm really pleased as mostly we have some in a salad and the rest eventually goes to Herc. And while it's not really 'wasted' on Herc I'd rather use it for us.

Never tried to cook lettuce, always eat it fresh. Most of the time i used it for our tacos and burger.

I use everything when I cook including all kinds if lettuce: Romaine, Bibb, etc. Why not? We use parsley, watercress and many other greens in cooking.

Hello Judy. Speaking of lettuce, my wife and I love it. My wife usually cooks it in two ways, (I mean, the leafy part) either in salad or cooks it the way she cooks other vegetables. Either way is ok.

That looks a bit different to the lettuce we usually buy. I don't have a photo of one at the moment. Thanks for putting this one up.

One son doesn't cook at all; the other is a vegetarian mostly and does do some cooking.
