Walk the Line

It has been a standard activity taught to me over the last three years to run the white 'JACK' along the dotted line to a place that is suitable and comfortable for the bowl to be aimed at - that is with my lawn bowling wood. It takes quite a bit of practice to get it right eventually, and during all this time, the little song that plays on in my head is "I walk the line". Ironically, because as soon as you have played your bowls, you walk the line too! As I was watching my youngest daughter practice for her Saturdays Under 30 Masters Championships, the song just played on in my head and it dawned on me that I actually dont know the lyrics. I just hum the tune until I get to the part where it says - "because you're mine, I walk the line". Silly me! So now I am off to bed and the ear-worm has made its reappearance, therefore before I lay my head to rest, I thought I would at least learn a few of the lines for my next lawn bowling day - I will have progressed. A question I have pondered on for some time is "How is Masters competition different from regular, open competitions?" Have you ever thought of what the word "Masters" imply's in front of Masters Golf Championship, Masters Lawn Bowling, Masters Chess and many other sports?: Defined as such: "a skilled practitioner of a particular art or activity" Yes, and as you read before, my youngest will be attending the Masters Lawn Bowling Championships along with one other young lady and eight men! I am very proud of her. On another happier note - My eldest daughter won the Lawn Bowling Ladies Singles Club Championship yesterday - They are a fine pair of sports ladies. If you can dream it, you can do it! To all of those that have no clue of the lawn bowling I am talking about, here is a little preview of this great outdoor sport.
After a fantastic 2015 event, the World's Biggest Bowls Festival will again hit the sunny Gold Coast in 2016. To build upon the success of the event, this ye...

they do it better than I do - but then they have their dad's competitive streak - I am more of the coaching type, but I have my moments of passionately wanting to win too.

Thank you. I didn't know what it was. It does look interesting and fun. You should be proud of your daughters to achieve such status. I also know what you mean by walking the line.

Bowls is very popular in our town too. Many of our older citizens pack up and go north to coastal resorts where it is warmer and most play bowls nearly every day while they're there.
