Contests and Challenges
There are some (good) things going on here on the MyLot place - challenges and contests of several kinds. The prizes that a person can win in those contests and challenges are many. You get to practice with your discussions and you get to see your stuff in writing and, as often as you wish, as your pictures are broadcast out over the great world wide web of the Internet.
Not a bad deal at all - actually, a really good deal. There it is. You can make of it what you want.
Someone started a photo challenge and started things off by offering up a really fine photo image. Make a photo and post it. (Lots of rules there, right?)
I was thinking about putting up a challenge of sorts - like "Tell us what you saw in the news yesterday" kind of thing. The reason that challenge idea came to mind was something I saw in the several minutes I spent watching the TV broadcasting of the RNC political convention being cobbled together in Cleveland, Ohio here in the colonies.
At one point in the goings-on, the new leader of the RNC stood there behind the speaker's microphone and said a bunch of stuff to his many followers and unfollowers. I forgot to listen to what the guy was saying as I watched him as he said it. What I saw gave me a bit of uneasiness.
Some of you here on the big MyLot place may have been around, as was a really youthful "me" in the days of the late 1930s and early 1940s. We may remember the photo of the then Italian dictator, Benito Mussolini, as he gave a talk to his people and, in which he folded his arms before his chest and jutted his chin way out as he looked down his nose at the world.
I saw someone do that at the RNC political convention and, frankly, it scared the bejabbers out of me.
So I decided to not put up a "what did you see in the news yesterday?" challenge. I might be tempted to enter my own challenge with some stuff describing chin-jutting and the like. Instead, I will simply enter the photograph, the one on top of this posting, into that on-going photo challenge. My image is guaranteed to not scare the pants off of anyone here.

A non-challenge photo challenge
A few days ago, I ran an idea by @JudyEv to start a photo gallery here. My thinking is that many people post some really great photos, and it would be fun to...

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - It never hurts to dream, but that is a difficult thing to do when both your eyes and your ears are wide open - to say nothing about being able to smell the garbage with your nose. I will go on to guess that, were my father alive and breathing today, he would have a pluperfect fit over all of today's nonsense and then die a second time as quickly as he could manage it.

I saw that Mussolini pose on FB with one of the GOP candidate above it looking the same way. Pretty scary stuff.

@bunnybon7 - It is easy enough to see that you are a wise person. Anyway, the weekend is fast upon us, so have a nice holiday in Holiday, Florida, TC. Bye the way, not to be forgotten, I am glad that you got some enjoyment out of the photo of that little tree. One day it kind of blew in here on the wind, so I stuck its bottom end into the dirt and it quickly smiled and started to grow. Got a bunch of trees like that around this place - even some orange trees started from the seeds kept after eating store-bought orange fruits. We call them our "spit-oranges." Sounds crude, but they make nice round orange things.
