When you don't know what to say, play dumb

I wrote a rant here once before about insulting comments at Reddit's bonsai group, but I quickly learned to develop a thick skin and now I take whatever people say with a pinch of salt. Until tonight that is.
I'd just shared a new blog post there when I received a comment saying "Go promote your blog elsewhere, plebeian."
I was going to ignore the comment, but after thinking about if for a while I decided on a sarcastic response: "Where do you suggest, your highness?"
All of a sudden my critic with his fancy English, starts writing in broken English, responding with a story which has nothing to do with me, my blog or bonsai. His sordid tale is not one I'd repeat, but if you're interested, you can read it at Reddit (link below).
Frankly I'm baffled by the whole thing.

@JudyEv He's clearly a trouble maker though, and I don't think that Reddit has a system to stop him from creating another account. The one he used to "comment" on my post was brand new, so it's likely that he'd been banned before.

@Gina145 I think trolling is more common nowadays. i might be wrong though.
Some people are just downright nasty. They need to put people down in order for them to feel better about themselves.

Thanks @allen0187 . In "real life" I'd probably have taken it more personally, but when I'm online I've learnt not to respond without thinking first.

@allen0187 I think it's only a minority who do that. I can't understand why anyone would get pleasure out of being nasty, but some do.

@crazyhorseladycx It was no big deal once I realised what he was up to. The first comment upset me a bit but once I saw the second one I knew that he was just looking for trouble. I didn't bother to report him, but I just found out he's been banned from Reddit.

There could be trolls anywhere online. They're just happy bullying others. Just wonder why they join such writing sites.

@acelawrites I wish I knew the answer to that. I can't see what pleasure he could possibly have got from our little encounter. Anyway I got the last laugh on this one because his account was deleted.

@acelawrites I didn't actually regard it as a fight. I answered cheek with cheek, ignored what was offensive but irrelevant, and left it to Reddit admin to decide whether they wanted to do any more.

@Gina145 see, you won the fight because you are right.

I'll pass on reading it but wonder why he is allowed to go off on anyone. i have never seen that happen here. But then here, its easy to push the report button. Admin doesn't seem to put up with bad attitudes.

@PainsOnSlate You couldn't read it anyway, because his account was deleted soon afterwards. Reddit has a report button too, but I didn't bother to push it. I was interested to see the response and was very happy with the outcome.
