This morning was my monthly quilt guild meeting. I took some sky shots on the drive there. Once there I got out of my van and took this shot. I zoomed in to get the name of our town on our water tower. Guild was good and fun as always. I bumbled through my hand written minutes from last month. Our speaker was Barbara Jo Paquin. She has the company Chloe and Me. You can search it if you would like. Once home I found 2 packages from amazon. One is a double leash that I got in for review. The other package was my Five and Dime ruler. Nothing like a quilt meeting and a new "toy" to motivate me to work. You probably have guessed already---instead of working on a project that is already started, I am starting another one. I went to my craft room and got my stacks of plain colored fabrics, my charm pack, my travel ironing board and my little iron. I already had the materials set aside for this project as mentioned in a post last week. I'm set pressing the fabrics now to cut into the 10 inch squares that I need. Any leftovers will be cut in to 5 inch squares as I can. I checked out a book from our guild library today that is all about making quilts with 5 inch squares. I hope to pick out 2 or 3 of the patterns to make. I have the big issue of loving to make the quilt tops, but not enjoying at all finishing the quilts. I searched on etsy and it looks like other just sell their quilt tops. I am taking that in to consideration at this point. It doesn't hurt to try anyway. Most everyone I know pays someone else to quilt their quilts for them. I can in no way afford that, so that's out for me. Others however, might just buy one of my tops to either finish themselves, or to have someone else finish them for them. I hope today proves to go well with me sewing, and working online at the same time. I also plan to continue working this way. Planning and doing are 2 different things though, so I will end by asking you to wish me luck. Have a great Monday!

gal, i'm gigglin' 't'cha! lemme know how that new ruler flies, k? i saw a youtube thingy 'bout those scalloped edges that've gotten me intrigued (noperz, can't get 'em spaced proper'n my own). lots 'f gadgets 'n easy to get caught'p'n wantin' to try 'em 'n diff'rent techniques out. i dunno why ya don't like to finish the quilt tops? i reckon folks figure they can sell 'em 'n the buyer can figure what design they wish? best 'f luck'n whate'er ya decide to do.

It's hard for me and so time consuming getting the back fabric, batting, and top aligned right and pinned. Then, if I try to actually quilt it on my machine it always buckles in different places leaving me highly frustrated.

@crazyhorseladycx That stuff is so expensive! I tried a batting that you ironed and even with it I had the buckling.

@marsha32 there's this schtuff called fabric spray adhesive :) no pinnin' required - a light spray'n the backin', add the battin' - smooth out. then spray the battin' 'n add the top - smooth out. i jest found out 'bout that schtuff 'n used't 'n that pocketed lap quilt i jest made. made puttin' 't together 'n stitchin' a snap! fer me, the most frustratin' thingy with all quilts's the danged bindin', lol. i've tried that 'stitch'n the ditch' thingy 'n wind'p smackin' trees 'n rippin' such out. i've learnt to machine sew the bindin' to the front 'n then spend how e'ery many days't takes to get the back secured.

You are busy as always. My ole quilt that I made many years ago is finally starting to wear out. I do have material but just haven't gotten around to start another one. Good luck with all your activities today.

The quilts I made for my kids and grandkids back when I was first learning are wearing out. I wonder if I will ever make them all more.

@velvet53 Mine may as well be packed away as little as I've used it lately. I even took hand work to my monthly sit n' sew at the quilt shop this month.

I'm glad that along the way in learning to quilt I have also learned to make other things as well such as hot pads, aprons, walker bags, and tote bags.

Misread "quilt" as "guilt." Made it sound rather odd.

So, how did you do on your new project? It sounds like a winner if you'd be able to sell your quilt tops online rather than having them sit around until you finish them, plus people might be more willing to pay the reduced price that a not-finished quilt might be, but yet provide enough for it to be worth your time.
