Does your kid do a lot of homework during the summer vacation? How about your experience?

My little boy is now spending his summer vacation. Both the school and we parents have arranged some homework for him to do. Every day he starts to do a lot of homework from ten in the morning, but he cannot well concentrate on his work. He could do it for many hours, playing a little while and doing it for some time. We think that it is a good time for our boy to review and consolidate what he learned at school in his first year of the primary school during his first summer vacation so that he will do better when September comes for his second year study. Sometimes he complains about it, saying, "Why must I do so much homework every day?" I would answer, "For getting more knowledge and laying a good foundation in your basic study for a brighter future and such." Does your kid do a lot of homework during the summer vacation? Or how is your kid's summer vacation arranged? Or how about your experience as a student?

In this aspect I think I am quite a "nice" parent. I have never given extra homework for my son even if it is the summer or winter vacation. Besides, actually his school didn't leave them many homework. I think the homework is already enough for children and they need more outdoor activities or some time for their own hobbies. This summer vacation my son didn't have any homework since he graduated from primary school and he will go to high school in September. I really think that the study pressure and homework is too much for children today. But sadly there is nothing to change it.

@williamjisir66 Before my child was recruited to a good middle school, at that time I was so worried because I was afraid that he would go to a bad school. Nobody knows which school they will go to because it depends on the computer. If you are lucky, you can go to a good school and it has nothing to do with your scores at all. I don't want to depend on it because the possibility is low. Actually my son goes to a middle school because of his French horn. Of course we had to pass many tests and finally got recruited. Then finally I feel relaxed.

I am glad that your son is professional in French horn, but I have no idea what it is. Sorry for my lack of knowledge about it.

Glad to know little youless will be in his junior middle school this autumn. How time flies! He is growing up from a baby to a seven-year grade student. It is a lot of pressure for both the parents and students in China. You know, if you don't give stress to your child, the other parents will because the school gives so much pressure to the parents sending messages to parents at Wechat or QQ circle. And you know how your kid is in their study and their grades in the class. Such is the case.

I don't have kids. When I was a student, I spent my summer vacation by enrolling myself in tutorial centers for advance subjects. I enjoyed it. I love spending my summer reading, doing assignments, etc. I didn't like playing.

When kids have a lot of homework to do, they cannot enjoy their vacation very much. It is understandable of the kids. Thank you for the response.

Certainly over our summer holidays we didn't do any homework as we'd be starting a new school year in February. But twice or three times a year we'd have breaks of two to three weeks and sometimes we'd be assigned homework over those periods.

Yes, but don't push him too much, since its summer and every kid'd want to enjoy the summer. It makes him no rest at all like that, 12 months studying. I'd say give him homework 3 times a week instead of every day, let him play with his friends and toys or have some free time, then study again. But a child at his age willing to study every day, especially on the summer vacation, it's really impressive. No wonder when he grows into a perfect student with a high quality job.
