Too Many Cats

In March we noticed a cat around the neighborhood. It was big with kitten and took up residence in our fenced-in back yard. We thought because there were dogs running around all over the neighborhood that she had come over from across the street, and that she belonged to our neighbor. We took her in until she had her kittens and the neighbor told us she was a stray, not theirs. She had 5 kittens and we gave all of them away to good homes. Now we are still stuck with the mama cat and none of the shelters in our area have room for her. Our other cats don't get along with her either, so we would like to find a home for her, but haven't been able to so far. What to do?

I am hoping to find another place for her. We are keeping her outside now but in the winter they will all be inside and she doesn't get along with the others so hopefully she won't be here then.

@clrumfelt We adopted a girlie cat from Craigslist. She was not socialized well when she was a kitten. Its been a super rocky road with her but we'll keep her one way or other. Oh she is a hisser! I wish you luck on caring for your kitter.

sorry for that. i had the same problem with a feral kitty in AZ a while back that led to generations of ferals i ended up feeding and it was a nightmare. i will never do that again. don't know how to fix it.

Just let her stay in your home then wait till you find someone to adopt her.

In the school where I work, there are a lot of cats straying around. They have very strong survival abilities by themselves. In winter they stay sleeping in the building under the stairs but in summer they love to sit sleeping on our e-bikes or motorbikes under the shelf for our e-bikes. They can always find good places for them and food as well. Often at night, they make terrible noise, but we are used to the cats. When the female cats give birth to baby cats, their good place is under the stairs. Just in May this year, a female cat bore a few cats there. One is now with a little girl who loves kittens. The other grow naturally on campus.

My husband doesn't want to keep her and neither do I, really. But if she is going to have kittens again and we can't find a placement for her we will have to have her spayed because i'm not going through that again.

Maybe you can have them neutered? A neutered cat have more chance of getting adopted.
