Children are all unique with with different characters. Some of them are very athletic while others are not. My brother-in-law's boy aged 8, who is of the same age as my little boy, is quite different from that of mine, who does not like swimming very much. He says he is afraid of getting drowned in the water. Two weeks ago, we went for a swimming in the swimming pool. My little boy did not want to go, but when he was there, he found it playful. So I think that a boy's preference in having sports of some kinds is, to some degree, related to his parents perhaps. I like swimming, but I don't know how to swim. What about your kids? Or what about you when you were a kid?

I learned to swim as a very young child, and taught my own children early too. I think it does depend on the parents to a certain extent.

It is great that your kids know how to swim with the guidance of yours. I am sure that they will appreciate you for this swimming skill when they grow up.

@jaboUK So I am sure that your kids must have taught their kids to swim as well. Take care, Jabo.

My son went to a swimming class from the age of 4. When he was 8 or 9 he invited his cousins to join his swimming class. They did. But they were afraid of the water so they didn't learn as fast as he did.

The younger a child learns swimming, the better s/he swims.

I truly understand the saying, "Once bitten, twice shy." If I had the same experience, I think that it would be the same.

I was never very good at sports but I did know how to ride a horse which gave me some prestige among my friends.

Swimming is a nice activity to get indulged in. It soothes mind and keeps body fit and flexible. Will definitely make my kids learning how to swim in near future.

Swimming is the best although I cannot swim at all. It is a kind of pleasure staying in the swimming pool. That day we played there for three hours long. So unimginable!
