Now that I'm Over 50s...Visit Amsterdam

I have many reasons to do what I've always dreamed of. One, to visit Amsterdam, Neitherlands, to see Anne Frank's House.
But then again, I'm not sure if it's safe there, being near Germany under Angela Merkel's open-border policy, and about what happened early this year. Amsterdam today may not be how it used to be in its glory days before 1930s and after the WWII.
How about you? What do you want to do at 50?

@everwonderwhy Another decade plus has passed for me since I turned 50. My parents gave me a party in the park that year. It was memorable because it wasn't something they did for me. It was a once in a lifetime event. Literally.

Was the birthday bash celebrations just recently? It must be very memorable with families and friends around celebrating your life with you. I didn't have a party when I turned 50 four years ago. I dream of visiting Israel, though.

Since I am older than 50 I have already done it. I did visit the Anne Frank House during January one year and it was not busy at all.

Did you take photos? Perhaps you could regale us about your visit there. Does the souvinir shop sell her (Anne Frank's) books and published diaries?

@everwonderwhy I believe it does. I am not sure where my pictures are from that visit, it was a while ago. We stayed at a really nice canal house hotel just around the corner from her house.

I went to Amsterdam in 2012. I visited Anne Frank's house while I was there. It was very crowded and it was hard to get close to the exhibitions, but it was very interesting to see the place.

Amsterdam is in the Netherlands and Merkel is leader of Germany. I haven't heard of immigrants flooding into Holland. Fortunately, I have been to Amsterdam which is a lovely city. The Anne Frank House is a memorable experience.

You are right. Hasn't Merkel any influence with the EU nations? As Netherlands being part of European Union? My friends are from Holland. They say that they are secure from illegal immigration. I heard that Holland is tight on border security since the Brussels and France terrorism attacks.
