Do you ever feel like you're being watched?
Somewhere out there, in the big expanse of the world, sits a man - or woman, or a whole warehouse full of them - gazing meticulously at a bunch of screens, looking for a misdemeanour or some form of evidence that you're 'not right in the head' and 'a danger to society'.
What if everything you do is being scrutinised without your agreement?
They - whomsoever they may be - know your daily habits; they know the websites you frequent, the games you play, your political persuasions and your shopping needs. They read the blog posts you write, getting to know you better than most people know you. They see the answers you give when you complete surveys, knowing that you prefer tea to coffee and watch EastEnders and don't like beer, much.
They don't need to guess your password because they can see exactly how much money you have in the bank, and what you're buying your Mumsy for Christmas and what pills you're getting a repeat prescription for - they know how doolally you are.
Perhaps we are all having our online life scrutinised. Maybe none of us are. But if you knew for definite that somebody was able to see every move you made online, would you change your habits? At all?

I try not to attract the wrong kind of attention online. We're a lot closer to that "1984" world than most people like to think.

I think we probably are. In some ways it's good, but in others it's obviously not so good. My personal space is important to me, both offline and on. I don't have anything to hide, but I don't want someone knowing me better than I know myself!

@Poppylicious I'm not comfortable with having someone looking over my shoulder all the time. I've had some bad experiences in that regard. Personal privacy is quite important to me.

@koopharper Absolutely. It should be important to everybody. It's a basic necessity for survival, I think. If we had no privacy we'd go mad.

easy to get paranoid but we are certainly in a surveillance saturated society now

@Poppylicious our city centre 'Piccadilly' area has over 90 cameras trained on it - virtually imposible to go through there without being seen

There are three cameras just on this bus, watching my every move and reading over my shoulder. *gasp*

There are too many suspicious people in the world trying to catch people out! For me, they'd probably marvel at how brilliant I am at Candy Crush and then nod off to sleep after the fifth game ...

@poppylicious If anyone ever found out that I go to the toilet on a daily basis I'd be so annoyed that I'd stop going just to spite them.

@Poppylicious People tell me I could join the circus freak show and make a lot of money but I'm too shy.
