What a day this turned out to be! An acting opportunity turned up.

I have mentioned at times that I try do some acting in commercials and independent films made here in Oregon. A young film maker that I worked with once or twice before emailed me late last night about a "larger" role in the film he has been working on for some time now, called "Eight Typesof Crazy." He has been filming in Portland, but will film here in Eugene this weekend.
I was scheduled to work five hours on Saturday, but found someone to take my shift. So pretty much all day Saturday and Sunday I will be on "location" with Brad and others. Pay is "deferrred," will come later if he sells the movie. That's why I call it a hobby.
He sent me the 120 page script. I play a kind of senile old guy (wonder how I got that part?) with two scenes and quite a few lines that I must work on around my work schedule tomorrow.
Besides that, Anne and I had a lunch date, sat outside in the shade to eat and even had a glass of wine with our meal.

is 120 pages an average length for a script? does that translate to an hour, 2 hour movie?

@JamesHxstatic will this be your longest speaking part? your most challenging role?

@hereandthere It will be I think. I had a great, funny role as a doddering old doctor in one that never got released.

It varies as to length, written in dialogue. It is a feature so suppose it would be about two hours.

Sounds interesting. Hope it sells so you will get paid for it. Talking about senile reminds me of a joke I saw. This kid about 5 years old is sitting on his great-grandfather's lap. The old man is telling the kid that when he was young gas was twenty-five cents a gallon. The kid is thinking his great-grandfather must be senile.

I am sure that sounded mythical to the kid.

@JamesHxstatic When I first started driving there was one gas station in Spokane that sold gas for 25 cents. The old gas station is still there but now it's a garden center.

Most here would not consider you senile or old, but you can still act the part! What great fun.

By that time, I (like my character) may remember little.
