Mylot Says It Is A Place To Blog But I Don't Think They Should Say That

The reason is, is because many times when people blog they blog to make money and they use affiliate links to do so. Here at Mylot you are not allowed to use affiliate links. That's the reason I got my account terminated was because I had that cat image with an affiliate link on it. So, I just think Mylot should just say it is a discussion forum. Plus, it's not really a blogging platform, anyway.

To me MyLot is more like a forum. Not so much like a blog. Although I can see what they would say it is like a blog. Just writing a post is basically blogging. And this is also a social site as well. Interaction is the thing. I enjoy MyLot very much. I don't ever use affiliate links here. Many sites don't allow them either. But you can post a link to a site if it is relevant to the post or to a video as well.

and if they have a blog, they can put the link in their profile, but not here in the discussion area

@hereandthere I think you can put your blog link in your profile. That's good as well.

I'm not sure how "blogging" is defined since I've never "blogged," at least not to my knowledge. Well, maybe I have. I participate in some stereo/hi-fi-related sites. But they're not mine. Is that "blogging"? I contribute opinions about loudspeakers, etc., to discussions that already exist.

I consider it blogging when you are writing at a blogging platform and you are updating it regularly and nobody else is writing there but you. Also, you are writing articles. Here at Mylot it is more asking and answering questions and commenting on discussions. Whereas a blog is your very own place to write.

sorry you got your account stopped - blog is often used as a label for just about any kind of web page nowadays

Yeah that is true. If you are typing it is considered blogging.

I think mylot is a mixture of a blog and a forum. There are discussion posts but people are also just blogging about their lives. In a sense it is like Tumblr.

Tumblr gives you your own url. I guess it all depends on how you view things. I just consider myself responding to discussions or starting my own. I don't really look at it as blogging.

@MoonMaa That is not really what I meant. This is blogging because Blogging is giving your thoughts out. Just like how vlogging does not only have to be on Youtube, it is talking to the camera. This is a blog but it is also a discussion. But don't most blogs have a comment section?

Oh dear, I understand your stand but you have to understand also that it is not always the case because the people who run this site prohibit putting affiliate link so we ought to follow and even then it is still a place to blog because we write here in an informal or conversational style.

The definition of blog is "a regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style." So it could be seen as a blog and also money has no relationship to the definition of blog. But they should just call it a discussion forum
