negativity - the art of growing old miserably

I used to think I was an exceptionally negative person.
I now know that I'm not really a negative person. I am a worrier, and can worry about anything and everything, all the time. This may come across as negative sometimes. As an introvert who is also quiet, shy and anxiety blessed, I can come across as negative.
However, pop the shoe on the other foot {that doesn't sound right ... it's not right, is it?} and I become the most positive person I know.
you can do it! you will do it! be positive! I'll say, with a cheesy smile plastered insanely on my face. Part of this comes from having to be the Strong One through Husband's bleakest haemoD and transplant days. it will happen! give it time! it's keeping you alive! I would say, even though my heart was pounding and my head was buzzing.
Do you think it's true that a negative outlook on life ages you beyond your years? My MiL could honestly win an Olympic Gold Medal if Negativity were a sport. MiL is in her late sixties but looks much older and acts much older. My Mumsy is in her mid-seventies and looks and acts much younger.
Everything that comes out of my MiLs mouth is either a lie {but I think she believes it to be true} or a negative comment. Somebody doesn't like me. The doctor said my knees will never get better. The exercises won't work anyway. But I don't want to have a knee operation. I don't think they should go there. Why are they doing that. The bus is late. The bus is crowded. The toilets are up some steps. My knees hurt. They chose this house because it's on a hill and I don't do hills. She left the fridge door closed. Do you think she's funny. I'm not going because I can't get there. How am I supposed to walk to the shop. I do exercise - I potter about all day. My knees hurt. She said she had this horrid experience so I'll probably have it to and so I'm not going to do it because I'm a petulant child and my knees hurt, why aren't you sympathising with me ...
Gosh, I apologise. I spent twelve hours in her company yesterday and in the end I just snapped at her because she doesn't do anything to help herself. We give her alternatives and solutions and she just offers up more negativity.
Do you ever just want to slap some common sense and positive happy vibes into people?!

I know it can be difficult to find positive things to cling to in life. But to live a completely negative life must be so draining on a person's soul.

I just grin and bear it. I've known her for fourteen years now and I just let her get on with it. It's just nice to have somewhere to come and grumble about it!

I'm quite patient. But with her I can usually change the subject or just not bother responding when she says something completely stupid. It was such a long, hot day!

Omg sounds like me ;) I used to be the same way, but now I am more positive. Why more then my husband. My parents are so negative and it drives me crazy. But they are set in there ways, so what can you do.
