I don't think I can do that

I don't think I can save them all. Heck, I don't think I can save a fraction of them. But if I can do just a little bit for a few of them, I think I've done a little good in the world. What? Oh, what am I talking about? Cats. I have right on my page here that I am a Crazy Cat Lady. If you can find a way to go back to my earliest posts, you would see I was trying to get some of the cats I had here adopted. I put a year into doing that and placed 16 cats in good, new homes. I have also found homes for several cats since then. I have also lost quite a few, the population does age after all. Well, today my across the street neighbor told me about how a cat had kittens in her yard. I was headed out to have lunch with my sister-in-law, so I couldn't do anything then, but when I came back, I set up my trap. I found the kittens and put them in the trap, hoping to catch mom when she came to get them. She got two of them out, and... well, I think she took them to another house's yard, people I don't know, and peeking through the fence, I suspect I'd have a terrible time finding the kittens in that yard. So, I pulled the other two out and took my cage and went home. If she hasn't retrieved the kittens by morning, I'll take them and feed them. I was given the name of a lady who works with babies, because, you know, I had enough trouble feeding Oliver in '05 and the 4 bottle babies of '07, I'm 9 years older now! But, I guess I need to start trapping the feral colony next door to at least prevent more kittens from being born.

The feral cats are captured here and they are neutered so that there are not too many stray kittens.

That is the best way to do it, but generally the colony's manager has to do it here.

@ElicBxn It's our Municipality that take cares of this. Anyone who see a feral cat can call them, they come and bring the cat to the veterinary and after they are released in the same area where they were found.

@LadyDuck That would cost the city money... they have done their best to make the city shelter "no-kill" and that means that any healthy cat isn't killed, but they aren't going to manage in anyway a feral colony.

I can't think of having more than 1 chicken.

This is why I can't have chickens because of these cats sneaking around in the middle of the night.

There are too many dangers to allow any chickens to run loose at night - owls, foxes, coyotes, and that is IN this big city...

All your cats stay in piece or any fights? Feral cats are wild behavior.

A feral colony doesn't have too many fights, unless there is a queen in heat. The only fights are to keep other cats out of their territory. And if the colony is all altered then there are few fights. This isn't my colony, but lives in my next door neighbor's yard - I have dogs.

You've heard the story of the starthrower? Relieving suffering is a good thing. No, you can't do it all. But you make a world of difference for those you help. That counts.

I try. I love cats, even the sorriest looking one is still beautiful to me.
