Diary Monday 8th August 2016

The last full day for me in my home of fifty years standing, though I was out shopping for much of the day and packing my worldly possessions in cardboard for much of the remainder.
Some friends have offered to come and help with the move early in the morning, so we have the main van plus two cars going now – reminds me of the song Convoy by C W McColl.
It seems rather surreal and sad looking at my home and surrounding city for the last regular time ever. Goodbye Manchester – hello Preston. This is likely to be my last regular post for a few days as it could be 19th August before my new phone line and modem are connected and I’ll be 1/. Busy moving in, finding my way round the new cityscape and 2/. Dependent on library internet for a few weeks.

This is the same video previously seen here. I cleaned up the video and added a stereo soundtrack. This was produced around 1975 on 16mm film.

I'd forgotten all about "Convoy!" It must feel very strange moving after so long. I hope the move goes smoothly and you enjoy your new home. I've lived in this town for 36 years, but truthfully I would not mind a move myself. Fresh starts can be good.

Good luck , sometimes you have to let go to discover something new. Having said that I guess you are feeling bad. Take care.

sad but good for you, sad that it's needed, your sister can now have all the responsibilities.

Enjoy settling in to your new place. Will your mum miss you? It will be strange - for her - for you to not be there after such a long time.

It is hard to make such a major move. We will see you when you get back.

Surreal and sad, I completely understand. Best of luck. We'll still be here when you manage to get back posting.
