Didn’t you notice I am talking lately about things relative to aging . Chips, sodas and fried chicken were one of my most favorite foods/ beverage during my childhood . I like mostly meat dishes . I don’t like vegetables . After I have given birth to our only child , it seems that something inside of me was awakened because after that I already eat lots of vegetables as well as fish . I always would pair my dish with a veggie during meals . But still I like chips , sodas and fried chicken . However , now that I am already in my 50’s , my food preferences changed . In our canteen , during lunch , I now would choose fish . Seldom would I buy meat . Even at home , I would choose fish for my dish . Drinking soda is once in a while, but still my love for fried chicken stayed . As for chips , I don’t buy them anymore . And when I am offered some , I would only taste one or two . I guess , our getting matured also matured our food preferences . What about you guys ?

I eat mostly meat and chicken; I seldom eat fish. I've been used to eating pork meat and chicken since I was a child. My mother was a good cook and she would always cook "adobo" or "humba" ("hung ba" in Chinese). I'd eat some vegetables sometimes now. On our birthdays, she would cook "arroz valenciana" or "kim coi ki" (cake from a mixture of sticky rice and papaya which we grind and sprinkled with bits of meat, deep-fried and sliced green onions and "hei be" which are dried shrimps).

So you are carnivorous my friend until now . But look at you , you have a nice body built . As i read on , i can't help drooling over all those you mentioned . I am a foodie that's why . Lucky you , because you have a good cook in your mother . I haven't heard nor tasted kim coi ki yet . But reading on its ingredients , i know it's delicious . But it's good you some veggies now . At our age , we now need roughage for our metabolism .

@SIMPLYD Kim koi ki is a Chinese delicacy. I'm lean because I don't eat much but drink lots of water.

Ever since childhood, I am a veggie person. I mostly eat vegetables and only once a week meat. Since I am here in the Philippines, I am eating fish everyday and of course vegetables. Becoming elderly keep me thinking what food I should eat and avoid. Soda drinks are not my cup of tea. I prefer tea of different sorts.

As I age my preference for more salads of all kinds, smoothies and very small portions of lean meatmeat will take precedence. Yet I will continue to eat what I've always eaten only in smaller portions and with far less salt.

Happens to me, too. I've also been trying more adventurous food, the ones you know kids won't eat aside from vegetables. I guess eating more of veggies and fish can keep you looking young. Based on your pic, you don't look your age.

@SIMPLYD Eating exotic food is actually on my wishlist, and I'd want to do that when I travel out of the country. Yeah, rice is a culprit for those flabs. I'm now taking just a cup of rice for the whole day (half for lunch and half for dinner). No softdrinks/soda, too. And lots of walking.

So now that you are matured , are you game on eating exotic foods ? Me, i mellowed . Before i like eating balut , but not anymore now. I eat almost any foods except exotic foods , though in moderation . And i don't eat much rice now because i like to trim my a bit growing big tummy . Thank you for saying that . I guess my happy outlook in life and being happy in simple things helped me a lot in looking younger than my age .

I am used to having it as a side dish to my fish or sometimes meat . What is important is that in every meal we should have eat . So you are a vegetarian . Since when dis you become one , my friend ?

As to sodas , i still do drink it once in a while . Unlike when i was teenager and younger i always like to drink sodas . This is what i than for in getting older - our food preferences are getting healthier.

@SIMPLYD my ice cream 'tis homemade with coconut milk/avocaco/dark cacao powder 'n local raw honey. toss me a naner 'r 2 most oft 'nto the mix. so 'tis healthy'n a way, lol. i adore dark chocolate, a taste i've jest acquired o'er the past few years now that'cha mention 't. i dunno 'bout that crohn's makin' one thin? i 'twas thin prior to the disease, jest didn't do this yo-yo schtuff. there's plenty 'f folks with the disease who're o'erweight. some tell me their doc's tell 'em that's a good thingy so they've 'resources' when they've a flare. lots'f times 'tis exacerbated by the medications they're takin'.

I have been told that after so many years are taste buds change, but I never looked into it or done my own research so I don't know how true that is. I can state that as the years go buy I don't like things I used to like and now like different foods that I used to hate. I eat more baked and grilled foods then I do fried even though I used to love all things fried. I have never had a taste for soda but I do love drinking other things like tea and juices and still tons of water.

When I look these photos, they seem to be delicious and make my mouth watering. As you say,our diet cahnges with our age. For me, it's right. At the age of six,I really liked eating fish whatever it cooked, but now, I rarely eat fish, not only because my school's canteen seldoms offers, but also I can not deal well with fish bones, often be stuck by them. By the way, where is your hometown? I really want to know famous and delicious snack in your hometown.

Well , it should be like that , no playing . But not no talking and laughing , because the best time to talk and laugh is when everyone i gathered to eat , don't you think so ? Me, i out on my reading glasses when i eat fish so i can clearly see if there is a bone , before i put it in my mouth .

The foods in the photos are delicacies of the Philippines . Although some came originally from other countries , Yes, some people are deterred from eating fish because of the experience of having fish bone stuck on their throat ,. I lately experienced it and have posted about it . But still i like eating fish , though very careful now. I am from the Philippines as my profile shows it .

@SIMPLYD What a pity, maybe I have no chance to taste them. As for fish, I'd like to share my experience to you, which I never forget. One day, i was eating fish when watching TV. Suddenly, i was stuck by fish bones on my throat. I tried many ways, but all was in vain, so I had to see a doctor. He told me i need an operation to move fish bones. You can imagine how shocked i was. Finally, I got well without the operation. From then on, i rarely eat fish. If i eat fish, i must focus on fish, no talking, no laughing, no playing. Isn't it very funny?

It is really god to choose our food because most of our sickness are derived from wrong eating. We are not getting any younger anymore so gotta be careful. Today I cooked sinigang na ulo ng maya-maya fish. I used santol instead of tamarind, I added lots of vegetables and we both enjoyed our healthy an tasty lunch.

@SIMPLYD Yes aging should really change us into a person with better choices because our experiences has so much to teach us It is just sad that some people though they age do not really learn and allow themselves to be a slave of their appetite no matter what the consequences may be.
