August 9, 2016 Oh all right, meteors aren't stars, but still. This Friday, August 12, is when the Perseids arrive. I hope to be in the desert watching the skies for this "starfall". I've been fascinated with space stuff ever since I read Buck Rogers comics as a kiddo. I wasn't good at math, and was prohibited by my mother from joining the military so I missed my chance at becoming an astronaut. Wouldn't it be great to watch the Perseids from the space station? Will you be watching from the earth?

@skysnap OH, no I guess not. If there's too much city light to snap a photo, you won't be able to see much with your eyes either.

Our weather channel has announced that tomorrow night and Friday night will be the moment to watch the falling stars. I will watch them from the top balcony of our home. There are no houses around and it's dark enough to enjoy the stars during the night.

@blitzfrick I have to remember to go out tonight. Most of the time by 10 pm we are already reading in bed.

@LadyDuck I went out at midnight and saw just a few, but I'm in a place where the lights from town interfere too much. Were you able to stay up?

i don't spend as much time star-gazing as I did when my horse was around. Often I'd visit her at night and watch the stars with her.
